Report on Activity
The special quality of Saint Kabir Das and Rahim was that they never took side of any religion and
used their literary abilities to compose poetry in common man’s language so that they could convey
the true meaning of day-to-day life to masses. An activity on Hindi Doha on most popular poet Sant
Kabir and Rahim was conducted by the students of grade V A. Students sang the Doha and then
explained the meaning of it. One of the Doha sung by a student was
“Jab tu aaya jagat mein, log hanse tu roye
Aise karni na kari, pachhe hanse sab koye
Translation: People rejoiced while you were crying at your birth. Don’t live a life that makes
people laugh and heave a sigh of relief when you die.
These lines are so highly relevant in every era & time. And is applicable to each one of us,
irrespective of the walk of life we come from. If you look at your life like a movie in flashback –
how would you want the picture to be? Are you leaving behind disappointment and sadness with
your Karma? Are you leaving behind people who will be glad that you are no more?
The purpose of this was to make the students aware about the wonderful Dohas.
