The districts educate children PK-12th grades. Both districts provide LA-4, the state preschool program. The majority of military students attend school in Vernon Parish. Military students comprise approximately 33% of the district’s enrollment. Beauregard Parish is approximately 15 miles from the installation. Military students in Beauregard Parish comprise approximately 11% of the district’s enrollment. There are two schools located on the installation: North Polk and South Polk Elementary, grades PK-4, which are governed by the Local Education Agency, Vernon Parish School Board. Students in grades 5th-12th are bused off the installation to schools either in the Pickering bus zone or Leesville bus zone. Although Vernon Parish has open-enrollment and students can attend any school with approval, transportation is only provided if your residence is in the proper bus zone.
