Excellence 1 - What is Excellence

Excellence What is Excellence? Gather the family and read Daniel 6:3 “3 Then this Daniel became distinguished above all the other high officials and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him. And the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. 4 Then the high officials and the satraps sought to find a ground for complaint against Daniel with regard to the kingdom, but they could find no ground for complaint or any fault, because he was faithful, and no error or fault was found in him.” What do you think excellence means? Excellence describes how something is done. We do something with excellence when we do our best. It means we give the best effort we can give to do the best we can. Excellence is not doing things perfectly, but doing it to the best of your ability. Because God desires and deserves excellence in all that we do, we will do the best we can with what we have. Daniel was a young man who was living with a group of people who were very different from him. The other people did not believe in the God of the Bible. He went to their schools and was taught about life as if God did not exist. Daniel was someone that all of the other people respected and admired. The main reason why was that Daniel had an excellent spirit in him. Everything he did, he did well. In fact he did it so well that the King wanted to put Daniel in charge of everything. How do you think Daniel got this excellent spirit? Daniel got this excellent spirit because God put it there. Daniel never stopped believing that God was real. He never stopped trusting in God, and he continued to believe that obeying God was the best way to live. Daniel’s efforts were never perfect, but they were excellent. Pray that God would help us to do things with excellence this week.
