MENTA Mobile Health Platform for a Better Care ERRIN Health Project Development Session 25th November 2014 Who we are National Institute for Quality- and Organizational Development in Healthcare and Medicines (GYEMSZI) Central-Eastern Europe, Hungary, Central Hungary • • Public institution, owner: Ministry Responsible for Health, HU Integrated functions: – implementation of the national development policy for healthcare – a methodological centre for health system and organisation development • • • • pathway & capacity management (national and regional) education and training programmes eHealth / mHealth programme and projects EU Council (eHealth Network + effective use of ESIF) – Cca. 100 Hospitals (roughly 80% of the inpatient care capacity of Hungary + outpatient care) – ESIF (& CH-HU) planning and execution programme governance + project management – FP7, LLL, Health Programme What our idea is Creating innovative additional values with the development of Mobile Health Platform for a Better Care (Medical e-Log and Notifying Therapy Application) through international cooperation Where we are now mHealth Research Conclusions (2013-2014) Applied latest appliation development standards • • • • • • Hungarian population uses the Internet widely to search for health-related information Most popular search expressions are about diseases, health professionals and health promotion >90% find useful information, but more than 30% is misleading 48% use at least one health-related mobile app • • • • • • • • Users, not patients Establishment of a new mHealth ecosystem Prevention-focused Improving health consciousness and self-awareness High level data security Excellent UX design Self-learning system Practical approach Time and cost effectiveness Free availability Medical e-Log and Notifying Therapy Application functional deliverables What our idea is Through international cooperation innovative additional values can be achieved like a new dimension of MENTA development by • linking it to state and private insurance systems as conscious usage of MENTA would supposedly decrease risks and so the cash outflow. • Evidence based recording of health protection activities and services in the application could also be rewarded as these contribute to healthy living. • Savings can then be reallocated to other health protection purposes, such as sport, recreation, health industry services. • MENTA basic version is planned to be used by 1-4% of Hungarian population (cca. 100,000-400,000 users), expected to grow to 7-20% after the introduction of new motivation models, so access to several different types of end user communities with improved interaction between patients, their relatives and care givers is available. Through the result of the MENTA development, applying the Problem Oriented Portable Patient Record the secured dataflow between Health Information Systems can be supported.
