This Week in Room 117
Week of September 13, 2015
TEXT
What a great first week of school. I enjoyed
getting to know your child, and I am so excited
about the rest of the year. I believe that this will
be an amazing school year.
Thank you to those parents who attended
Curriculum Night. For those who could not
make it, I hope that your child brought home the
red folder with all of the information. Please fill
out and send back those things that need to be
returned.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have
any questions or concerns. Together, we can
help to make this the best school year of your
child’s life.

English/Language Arts
We will be starting the MAISA reader’s
workshop Unit 1. Dibels testing will also be
done this week so that we can begin RTI
shortly.
There will not be regular spelling tests this
year. Instead, the district is implementing a
Word Study program that will be used. It is
our hope that students will become even
better spellers by understanding patterns and
other aspects of the words that they use in
their everyday writing.
The students are currently working on a
personal narrative about how I ended up with
the alligator head that is currently on my
shelf. They are working hard to add details
to improve their stories.
Social Studies


Thinking Like a Geographer

Vocabulary Quiz Next Monday
We will be focusing on Social Studies from
now through December, and then we will
switch our focus to Science.
