Participant Guide
Thank you for your participation in Negative Split and your support of HOPE - Hearing
Oral Program of Excellence. To ensure a great race experience we have listed several
important pieces of information below.
Packet Pick-up
Packet pick-up will be held at the Fleet Feet Downtown Store (1303 N Washington) on
Saturday, April 8th from 10am - 4pm. If you are unavailable to pick up your packet, you
may have a friend pick-up your packet for you. There will be NO packet pick-up race
morning.
Timing Bib Numbers
All timing is provided by Nomadz Racing. Your timing chip is already fixed to the back
of your bib. Please do not bend or fold your bib number. All bib numbers must be worn
and visible on the front of your person. Results will be available on an iPad kiosk in
Kendall Yards following the race. We will also have results posted on nsplit.com/race/
Event Parking
PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY to park so you do not miss your start time. THERE IS VERY
LIMITED PARKING IN KENDALL YARDS DUE TO CONSTRUCTION THIS YEAR.
The best parking access will be in the courthouse and health safety building parking lots
north of Kendall Yards via Broadway. No parking access will be available from W
Summit Blvd. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE KENDALL YARDS PAVED PARKING

Morning Gear Check
If you want to drop off your clothes or other personal items before the race, simply bring
your Negative Split drawstring bag stuffed with your gear to the designated gear check
tent. We will mark your bag for you and hold it until after the race. You must have your
bib number to claim your bag after the race!
New Wave Start
All distances will start on W Summit Parkway in Kendall Yards between Monroe and
Cedar St (see map above). You must start at your indicated start time below or you will
be disqualified.
Your estimated finish time is based on what you put on your
registration. You can check this and make changes to this at packet pick-up. No
changes to your start time will be allowed on race morning.

The Course:
Remember that not all roads are closed to traffic. Please be alert on the course and be
mindful of traffic particularly along government way and sunset blvd on the half

Aid Stations:
Half marathon participants will cross aid stations about every two miles on the course.
10k runners will have 3 aid stations along their route. 5K runners will have 1 aid station
near the half way point on the 5k. Aid Stations will be equipped with the following…
✓ Portable toilet
✓ Water
✓ GU hydration
✓ GU chews
✓ GU gels
✓ Basic first aid
Please help us out and discard of any trash within the aid station. Please do not litter on
the course.
Cutoff Times:
The course will close at 1:00pm. If you are still on the course at 1:00pm, you may finish
the race, but you must adhere to all traffic rules and you will be unsupported on the
course from that point forward until the finish line.

Crossing The Finish Line
Congrats on your finish! Volunteers will award you a finisher medal and finisher t-shirt.
Please take the size shirt you ordered when registering for the race. We will have a
limited number of finisher shirts available for size exchanges. Come to the Negative
Split info booth for all exchanges. After finishing, head to the recovery station for fruit,
bagels, cookies, and hydration.
First Aid
Thanks to U District PT for providing our race medical staff. In the event that you need
first aid or medical attention, please make your way to the medical tent or let a volunteer
know you need assistance.
The After Party
Thanks to Ninkasi Brewery, Nectar Beer & Wine, and Veraci Pizza for
hosting the after party! We will also have Brain Freeze ice cream and
3 Ninjas food truck at the event. All money from beer sales will go
directly to support HOPE- Hearing Oral Program of Excellence.
Hang out and cheer on other finishers while celebrating your finish.
Awards
Age group and overall awards will be given. We anticipate beginning our awards
ceremony between 12:30pm and 1:00pm depending on when all podium spots are filled
in each age group.
Race Photography
Photos for this year’s race will be provided by Todd Conley Photography. Keep your
bib# visible on your front side to be included in photos. Look for photographers along
the course and at the finish line. toddconleyphotography.com.
Spectators
Negative Split is a great spectator race. We encourage your friends and family to come
out and support you in your race. As a courtesy to other runners, we ask that all
spectators stay off the course and cheer from the sidelines.
A Note About Volunteers
Please be respectful and thank the volunteers you see along the way. They are out
there to help you and make this a safe race for all participants.
