12U All Stars undefeated
District Champions
By Steve Meders
The 12U girls went over to
Nashville for the District
Championship. The girls
were undefeated going into
the championship game.
Early County came back
through the losers bracket to
face A-C. The Early County
team got some breaks "early"
in the game. A-C made a few
errors. Tristin Wilson was on
the mound for the A-C girls.
Glenn Simmons said, "She
pitched a great game."
The A-C girls found themselves down 7-3. A-C fought
back in the bottom of the 4th
inning; the score was 7-6.
Natalie Rojas came up to bat
with two outs and two runners on. She hit a double to
put A-C up by one.
Tristin continued to pitch
well and shut down Early the
next inning. In bottom of the
5th inning, Ansley Simmons
found herself in the same situation as Natalie, two outs,
with runners on. She hit a
double to score two more
runs. Ansley scored later to
make the final score 11-7. AC
wins!

After winning the first
game against Irwin County,
the 14U Adel-Cook Girls
faced a strong Wilcox
County team.
In the second inning,
Brannen Allen hit a double
with two outs. Shauna Oblisk
then laid down a perfect bunt
that was thrown away to
score Allen for the first score
of the game. Ansley Paulk on
the mound only faced 10 batters through the first 3 innings. “She did a great job,”
her coaches said.
In the fourth inning, Tomi
Richardson got a double.
When Allen came back up to
bat with 2 outs, she got a hit
that scored Richardson. A-C
was looking good but with a
narrow lead 2-0. A few

While exercising and staying active is important during the
hot summer months, it’s equally important to stay safe while
outside in the heat. Swimming and playing outside under
a water sprinkler are two ways to stay cool while burning
calories this summer. You can burn 4.5 calories per minute
by lightly treading water. Skipping through a water sprinkler
can burn around 7 calories per minute. (The faster you run
or swim, the more calories you’ll burn.)
Play Hard, Play Safe!
Dress in the Proper Clothing - In hot weather, children should be dressed in thin, light-colored clothing.
Drink Fluids - Children should drink a glass of water about 15 minutes before they start exercising. If they're exercising
in a warm environment, they should drink a large, lukewarm glass of water every 20 minutes during the activity. Lack
of water can cause dehydration. Possible signs of dehydration include nausea and lethargy. If you ignore these signs,
the body may go into heat exhaustion or heatstroke.

freaky things happened in the
bottom of the fifth. Wilcox
scored 3 and held A-C in the
top of the 6th. Time ran out
on the Ladies of A-C.
That loss put Adel-Cook
waiting on the winner between Fitzgerald and Irwin
County. Fitzgerald won 10-1
over Irwin. Fitzgerald decided not to play A-C; A-C
won 7-0. That put us back in
the championship.
Claire Dobson got things
going with a hit and Rodrica
Styles laid down a bunt to
move Claire to 3rd. Tomi
Richardson walked and then
stole second. With runners on
2nd and 3rd, Ansley Paulk
(2-2 count) hit a rocket up the
middle to score two runs.
Wilcox scored one run in
each of the first three innings.
Ansley Paulk then got in her
groove. In the fifth inning,
Claire got things going with
a bunt hit. Rodrica got on
with a hit. With 2 outs, Ansley Paulk come up to bat
again; she got a clutch hit to
score two. Brannen Allen
