: EVERY PLAYER AND PARENT TO READ
WE DO NOT WANT ANY MATCHES OR SETS TO BE FORFEITED.
To accomplish this we need the assistance of ALL PLAYERS and PARENTS.
All grades have a bye. (You must not get a higher ranked player), and there is also the option of a PLAYER IN A
LOWER GRADE who is playing in the other time slot. So, 8-10am players can be asked to fill in for a similar or
higher grade at 10-12 noon
AND, similarly, lower graded players in the 10-12 noon time slot can be asked to fill in for a similar or higher
graded 8-10am player.
ANY PLAYER REQUIRING A REPLACEMENT SHOULD ORGANISE AS EARLY AS
POSSIBLE …. AND INFORM THE REPLACEMENT OF TIME AND COURT.
IT IS NOT REASONABLE TO ASK SOMEONE TO FILL IN AT VERY SHORT
NOTICE.

SATURDAY MORNING JUNIOR
COMPETITION RULES
1. RESERVES : Any player who is unable to play in a particular match is responsible for finding a
replacement player. This player could be a (‘like numbered’) player from the team with the bye, or, from a similar
or lower grade playing in either time slot (See Page 2 of this Comp. Draw).
A replacement player can not be from a higher grade.
2. TIMES OF PLAY : Players should arrive at 7.50am for matches commencing at 8am or at 9.50am for
matches commencing at 10am. A three-minute hit up is allowed for the first set played by each player. Matches
starting at 8am should end at 10am (any game in progress to be completed), and matches starting at 10am should
end at 12 noon (any game in progress to be completed).
3. PENALTY FOR LATE ARRIVAL : If a player fails to arrive by 8.10am (for the 8am session) or 10.10am
(for the 10am session) then he / she will forfeit the first 3 games of his / her singles set. These deadlines will be
announced over the PA system.
4. SERVICE CHOICE OR CHOICE OF END : The teams must toss prior to the match commencing and
the winner of the toss shall choose an end or to serve first or to receive first in the first set : then this choice will
alternate for remaining sets.
5.
FORMAT OF MATCHES :
HOTSHOTS: 2 courts for each match. 3 Rubbers per match. Firstly the Singles rubbers are
played : 1 v 1, 2 v 2. These rubbers are best of two tie-break sets (tie-break is played if score reaches 6-all),
followed by a Match tie-break (first to 10 points with a lead of at least 2 points) if a rubber is 1 set all. The third
rubber is the doubles which is a 1 tie-break set (tie-break required if score reaches 6-all). In each game a ‘Sudden
death’ point is played after the second deuce.
ALL OTHER GRADES : 4 sets played on one court. Doubles, Singles 1 v 1, Singles 2 v 2,
Doubles.
All sets are 1 tie-break set (tie-break is played if score reaches 5-all) for all grades except Premier.
For Premier the tie-break is played if score reaches 6-all (and, ‘Sudden death’ is after the second deuce).
In all other grades, in each game, if the score reaches deuce, a ‘Sudden death’ point is played to decide the winner
of the game.
6. ALLOCATING POINTS
For Hotshots … 2 points are allocated for each singles rubber won, 1 point for winning
the doubles
rubber. If a singles rubber is not completed, a player wins a point for a set won. If the second set is not
complete then the other point for singles is shared. There is 1 point for a team winning a set in a
losing
rubber. The winning team (the team winning at least two rubbers) will be allocated 1 bonus point.
For All Other Grades : 1 point is allocated for each set won. The team winning on games is allocated 1 bonus
point. If games are level this 1 bonus point is shared. If the match is unfinished and neither team has an
uncatchable lead then this one bonus point is shared, as are the points for any unfinished sets.
7.
RESULT CARDS : All players are responsible for ensuring that their results are entered correctly on the
Result Card. The Result Card must be complete, legible and signed by a member of each team. The WINNING
TEAM is responsible for submitting the result card (this should be placed into the Results Box in the green door
opposite Court 7, by 6pm on the day of the match, or, cards may also be scanned and emailed).
8.
WET WEATHER : If the weather is inclement players should check the Association’s website :
www.etdta.com … ‘Weather News’.
Advice will be available by 7.20am. (for 8am matches) and by 9.20am (for 10am matches).
If matches are washed out they will NOT be replayed.
9.
UMPIRING : In all grades other than Hotshots, Singles matches will be umpired. The two players not
playing that set will be the umpire and ball boy /girl (each team will umpire one set and ball boy/ girl one set).
10.
SEMI FINALS AND FINALS :
In Divisions with 5 teams the position of each team will be decided by AVERAGE POINTS PER MATCH (as
some teams have 1 bye and some have 2 byes). These statistics will be sent out to all players by email.
In Divisions with 7 teams the position of each team will be decided by total points.

In Hotshots a match is won when a team wins two rubbers.
In other Divisions matches are decided on games (in a completed match), and if games are level, on sets.
In the event of a draw (when games and sets are equal) a 12-point tie-break game of doubles will be played as the
match decider. The team winning this tie-break will be considered the winner of the match.
In ALL grades, in the event that a match is not finished (a winner is not decided, or not played due to wet weather),
the match will be awarded to the higher placed team from the preliminary rounds.
