Recyclables may be placed in any solid container (not more than 3 feet wide) or paper bag.
You may also use a separate garbage can (32-gallon maximum capacity) clearly marked
“RECYCLING” or with a large “R” on the SIDE of the can and pointed toward the road so
it is not mistaken for garbage. It is important that “RECYCLING” or a large “R” is on the
side of the can so that the driver can see it from the road, as he only pulls over and stops
the truck if it’s obvious that there is recycling to be picked up. Please remember that we
cannot accept any recyclables (including newspapers) in plastic bags. Thank you!
Items we are currently able to accept for recycling include the following:
Newspaper – Anything that
comes in the newspaper can be
recycled with the newspaper.
Magazines, Catalogs,
Phonebooks
Plastics – Rinse clean, no need
to flatten.
Acceptable Plastics: Plastic
bottles and tubs 6 ounces or
larger (except those containing
hazardous products or motor
oil);
Rigid plastic plant pots 4 inches
or larger;
Plastic buckets 5 gallons or
less;
Milk jugs
Non-Acceptable Plastics:
Bags and film, foam/expanded
plastics, large items such as
toys, bottle and tub lids, trays
clamshells and bakery contain
ers, food-contaminated items,
“biodegradable” plastics, cups,
plates, tableware, blister pack­
aging, any plastic containers
smaller than 6 ounces. Plastic
grocery bags may be returned
to the store they came from.
Tin/Aluminum – Cans, jar
lids, foil, TV dinner trays, bev­
erage cans. Rinse clean, no
need to flatten.
Paper Bags
Corrugated Cardboard –
Maximum 3 feet wide in any
direction FLATTENED and
TIED. No waxed or slick­coated cardboard.
Mixed Paper & Junk Mail –
Paper, envelopes, white and
colored paper, computer paper, tin can labels, wrapping
paper (no foil or ribbon), shredded paper (strips only, 4” or
longer, no confetti). No paper
ream wrappers, tissue pa­per, waxed paper, candy
wrappers, snack food bags.
Paperboard – Cereal/
cracker/shoe boxes (discard
liners), soda and beer car­tons, paper egg cartons, pa­per towel tubes. No frozen
food boxes, paper cups/
plates/towels/napkins, or
pet food bags.
Motor Oil – Pour into an un­
breakable, leak-proof con­tainer (prefer milk jugs ½ gal­lon to 1-gallon) with a tight
fitting lid. Clearly label con­tainer “MOTOR OIL” and
place next to your recyclables. Brake/transmission fluid,
as well as cooking oil are accepted. Antifreeze is strictly
prohibited. Please do not set
out more than 2 - 3 gallons of
oil at a time, as storage space
on our truck is very limited.
Recycling is picked up once a month on the same day as your garbage service in a separate truck. Please have
recycling available for up pick up by 6:00 a.m. along with your your garbage. Please be sure to discard all caps
and rings from plastic bottles, remove labels from tin cans, and rinse all food residues from containers.
Recylable items such as glass, tires, batteries, and applicances may be taken to Negus Transfer Station on the
northeast side of Redmond Friday through Monday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., except holidays.
