Sassaia
is a US registered trademark of Azienda Bergaglio Pier Carlo located in the Monferrato region of Piedmont and we are known for traditionally
crafted limited production wines. The
winery actively employs sustainable agricultural practices in caring for the vineyard and solar energy in the wine making
process. Under the direction of Pier Carlo
Bergaglio and Enrico de Alessandrini, the
estate manages over 25 hectares (60+
acres) of their own vineyards where each
vintage is harvested by hand to insure the
selection of superior grapes for artisanal
wines. Old world varietals planted in the
1940s and 1950s, sloping southeasterly
and southwesterly exposure, Pier Carlo's
dedicated craftsmanship and Enrico’s collaboration results in wines that are an incredible expression of their fruit and terroir. Sassaia also selectively sources and
estate bottles exclusive limited production
wines from single family growers in Italy’s
renowned Barolo and Barbaresco Piedmont DOCG regions. Enrico and Pier
Carlo actively collaborate in shaping SASSAIA to deliver an elegant expression of
Piedmont’s finest wines.

“B LACK L ABEL ”

“W HITE L ABEL ”
Vinified from vines planted in the 1970’s. After soft
pneumatic pressing it is aged for 6 months in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and bottle
aged for an additional 3 months prior to release. It
is straw yellow in color, crisp with balanced acidity.
B ARBERA
“W HITE L ABEL ”
The Barbera grapes chosen for this wine are hand
harvested. After a soft pneumatic controlled pressing and de-stemming process, the winemaking continues with traditional malolactic fermentation and
aging in a combination of Stainless Steel tanks and
traditional French oak.

A Super Piedmont blend of Cabernet
Sauvignon, Nebbiolo and Barbera
Grapes. The aging process employs both
18 months of softer Slavonian oak, six
months of bolder French oak and 12
months in the bottle prior to release.
Scents of green pepper, ripe red pepper,
bilberry, blackberry, licorice and chocolate emerge as the wine opens.
B ARBARESCO
“O RANGE L ABEL ”
Made with 100% Nebbiolo from Barbaresco in the Langhe region of Piedmont, known for its prestigious wines.
Barbaresco undergoes a minimum of 26
months of aging in oak, softening its tannins. This wine is known for its soft red
color, violet nose with flavor notes of
ripe cherry, cacao, fennel and licorice.
This wine lends itself well to aging.
B AROLO
S PUMANTE B RUT
This Spumante Brut is a white sparkling
wine made from a blend of Chardonnay
and Cortese grapes. On the palate it is
crisp with apple and white flower
notes. Dry finish.
S PUMANTE R OSE
This Spumante Rose is made from the
Dolcetto grape. On the palate it is crisp
with slightly bitter cranberry notes.
Dry finish.
Our Spumate selections are made by
hand as part of the early harvest to
ensure proper balance between acidity and natural sugar for a dry sparkling Brut.

“R ED L ABEL ”
A garnet red color with a delicately refined
bouquet and taste that is reminiscent of violets, red macerated cherries in bitter sweet
dark chocolate with hints of liquorice, tobacco, truffles and pepper. The wine undergoes
a 3 year ageing period that includes Slavonian oak casks followed by bottle aging.
B ARBERA
“G RAY L ABEL ”
Only the best Barbera grapes are hand harvested in late autumn from old vines
planted in the 1940’s and 50’s. The rigorous selection process provides a strong
foundation for the purple and plum hues
with notes of sweet tobacco, leather and
spice.
G AVI
“B LUE L ABEL ”
Vinified from vines planted in 1950. After soft
pneumatic pressing and cold steeping for 48
hours, it is aged for 6 months in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and bottle aged for an
additional 3 to 4 months prior to release. It is
straw yellow in color with a floral nose and balanced acidity.
