Linear Tape-Open is a magnetic tape technology based on linear recording on ½-inch tapes. Improvements in
server technology, data compression, track layout and error correction code ensure greater storage capacity,
better performance and higher reliability. With a compressed capacity of currently up to 3.2 TB, these cartridges
are the first choice for data backup, recovery and archiving applications.
The Library Pack is plastic packaging that offers protection against impact, dust and moisture during transportation
and handling. Its advantage is easy handling for use in automated systems. Simple identification of bar code labels

DLT / S-DLT
Digital Linear Tape is a magnetic storage medium for backing up and archiving digital data. It is a tape storage
technology with linear recording, which has gained acceptance as the standard within the mid-range and high-end PC
server market. DLT media enable data to be transferred more quickly compared with other technologies (such as QIC);
S-DLT, the current variant, is one of the three most common tape technologies.
Super Digital Linear Tape is a further development of DLT technology, uses server-supported multi-channel recording
and is read-compatible with DLT.

known as 4mm technology. The recommended maximum
storage life is around ten years.
The Digital Data Storage format was developed by HP and

Bar Code Labels
A bar code refers to an optoelectronically readable code consisting of parallel lines and spacings of variable width. The
term „code“ here does not stand for encryption, but for representation of data in binary symbols. Data in a bar code is
automatically read and electronically further processed using optical reading devices (scanners, cameras).
Changes to HP LTO labels: The familiar dual bar code label is now only recommended for LTO-1 and LTO-2.
Only a single bar code label will be supplied in future for LTO-3 and LTO-4. Should you still be using dual bar code labels
and wish to continue to do so for optical reasons, we can continue to supply the dual bar code for LTO-3 and LTO-4,
but you must mention this specifically in the purchase order.

We can supply you with the bar code labels for all magnetic
tapes and all robotic systems/libraries – also in the form of
cleaning and diagnostic labels. As a special service, we can
supply data storage media with the label of your choice.
• Laser Etching
Your cartridges can be laser-etched with names, company
logo or even sequential numbers.
• Cassette Initialization/Re-Initialization
Would you like to have new or used cassettes quickly
operational again without the need to commit precious
resources and time? Our initialization service performs the
initialization of new or used cassettes according to your
specifications. The service covers all common formats
(3590J and E, 3592, 3592E, 9840, 9940 and T10000) and
special formats, and can only be performed with the hardware,
software and personnel resources of OpenStorage.
The cassettes are initialized using an independent system.

• CD-R Reproduction, Pressing and Duplication
For a production run of more than 300 CD-ROM copies, the
reproduction method of duplication is unacceptably
expensive. In such cases, it is better to have CD-ROMs pressed
in accordance with the industry standard. A master CD-ROM
with the required content first needs to be created, a step
which incurs one-off costs. This master is then used to create
an exact press mould, enabling you to produce as many exact
mirror copies of your master CD-ROM as you want. Using this
production process, you pay only a fraction of the cost of the
corresponding number of blank discs. The larger the
production run, the lower the unit price.
• CD-R/DVD Imprinting
We can imprint your CD/DVD according to your specifications
using a silk-screen process (special colours available on request).
• Data Storage Media Imprinting
We can imprint your data storage media according to your
specifications using a silk-screen or pad printing process.

The Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) is a digital storage medium, which
is similar to a CD, but has much higher storage capacity. This is
made possible by a higher data density and two parallel data layers.
DVD is a further development of optical storage media. It is the third
generation after CD and the magneto-optical MiniDisc.
The Blu-ray Disc (BD) is a digital optical storage medium.
It is regarded as having won the format war between Blu-ray disc

Apart from the CD-R, there is also the Compact Disc Rewritable, which allows the data storage medium to be written to

Solid State Drive
A Solid-State Drive (SSD), also called
Solid-State Disc, is a storage medium
which can be installed and addressed
like a conventional hard disc.
It contains no rotating disc or other
moving parts, as only solid-state
memory modules of similarly large
capacity are used.
The advantages of a „Solid-State Drive“ are robustness, short access times and

If Flash memory is disconnected from the source of electricity, the memory contents are preserved. This is a great
