Soccer United Marketing Senior Director of Business Development Position Description SUMMARY: The Senior Director of Business Development will be responsible for leading and overseeing Soccer United Marketing’s sponsorship sales efforts. The Senior Director will develop and sell sponsorships and partnerships across SUM properties, programs and assets. In conjunction with the Vice President of Global Sponsorship, the Director will lead the national sales force for SUM and related assets. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Lead global sponsorship sales efforts in regions including the United States, Canada and Mexico • Provide day‐to‐day oversight of the sales department, while maintaining focus on the company’s overall strategic goals • Establish performance goals for the Business Development department and monitor performance on a continual basis • Seek and develop new saleable assets focused on long‐term commercial growth • Strategic category sales and inventory management, with focus on maximizing revenue for each SUM property • Prospect and develop new client relationships resulting in the sales of sponsorships across the SUM portfolio • Deliver strategic sales presentations catered to decision makers at the prospective clients and agencies • Successfully negotiate and close sponsorship deals • Strategically integrate other SUM assets/priorities, including MLS Digital Properties and national broadcast partners • Manage inventory and pricing to maximize property revenue • Develop and manage internal operating budgets, including all planning and financial tracking • Serve as the departmental representative to counterparts in other functional areas including: Partnership Marketing, Digital Sales, Team Services, Legal, etc. • Support Vice President in other business related matters QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION REQUIRED: • A minimum of 10‐12 years of relevant sponsorship sales experience • Proven experience in leading a national sales force • Extensive global knowledge of the sports sponsorship and media marketplace • Self motivated team player with the ability to work with aggressive individual and team sales goals. • Superior business and negotiating skills • Strong communication and presentation skills • Solutions driven problem solving mentality a must • Ability and willingness to travel • Computer Skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint • Language Skills: Spanish fluency preferred • Bachelor’s degree required; Graduate Degree preferred
