Constitution for the Eastern Oregon University Sports Business Association
Preamble
We the members of the Eastern Oregon Sports Business Association, establish this Constitution to govern
the matters within our organization.
Article I – Name
Section 1
The name of this organization shall be the Eastern Oregon Sports Business Association.
Section 2
The Sports Business Association is headquartered at Eastern Oregon University, and may partner with
other organizations within the University and the greater Eastern Oregon community at the discretion of
each year’s respective Officers and/or Members. No Officer or Member from one class year shall be
bound to any affiliation or partnership by the actions of Officers or Members from the previous class
year.
Article II – Purpose
Section 1
The primary purpose of the Sports Business Association shall be to promote and serve the professional,
academic, and social interests of all students who have expressed serious interest in the sports industry.
Article III – Membership
Section 1
All EOU students who pay the annual membership dues are able to be Members. Only Members shall be
permitted to serve in any official capacity with the Sports Business Association, and shall possess voting
rights in elections and other Sports Business Association affairs.
Article IV – Officers
Section 1
The officers of this organization shall consist of one President, one Vice President and a board of elected
directors of different business functions as the organization sees fit. The President serves as the liaison
between the Eastern Oregon University Sports Business Association, the Center of Student Involvement,
and any other organization that is affiliated with Eastern Oregon University. In addition to these
responsibilities, the President shall schedule events, obtain speakers, and facilitate the provision of
beverages and light snack foods. The executive board members shall assist the President in any and all of
the aforementioned responsibilities and duties.
Section 2
The only requirement for the elected officials is to be a member in addition to being in good standing with
the university.
Section 3
The term of office for President and Vice President shall be for the entire academic school
year. Additional Director offices shall be for the term of one semester.
Section 4
Provisions for removal of an officer shall be facilitated through a motion to vote. Any member can
request that the removal of an officer be put to a vote during any official meeting. If a consensus is
reached, then the officer in question will be expected to resign. The terminated officer will be given an
opportunity to address the members and plead their case for reinstatement. The decision to reinstate shall
be determined by another round of voting.
Section 5

4. Director – Member Engagement
5. Director - Marketing
6. Director- Events
7. Director – Partnerships
Article V – Elections
Section 1
At the conclusion of the academic school year, the members of the Eastern Oregon University Sports
Business Association will nominate candidates for the position of President and Vice-President. A
popular election shall be held to determine who will assume the position of President and Vice-President
for the upcoming academic school year. To run for the office of President and Vice-President, one must
be a current member in good standing and have served on the executive board for at least one semester.
Section 2
At the conclusion of both the each year, the members of the Eastern Oregon University Sports Business
Association will nominate candidates for the executive board positions beyond President and Vice
President. A popular election shall be held to determine who will assume these positions for the
upcoming academic term. To run for these offices, one must be a current member in good standing.
Section 3
Provisions for filling vacancies shall proceed in the following manner if it has been determined that the
resignation of an officer has become necessary. In such a case, the members will be allowed to nominate
a successor. The nomination process will be followed by a popular election where the winner shall
assume the vacancy.
Section 4
The procedures for voting shall be a secret ballot vote amongst members who are currently active within
the organization.
Article VI – Meetings
Section 1
Regular meetings of this organization shall be held. The President shall be responsible for notifying
members of upcoming meetings. The President shall announce upcoming meetings via electronic mail.
Article VII – Advisors
Section 1
There shall be one faculty advisor who will serve as members ex-officio with no voting privileges.
Section 2
The advisor shall serve as an experienced advisor who will provide answers to questions that the
organization’s leadership may have. If the advisor is unable to offer a response, they are expected to
investigate on behalf of the Eastern Oregon University Sports Business Association.
Article VIII – Amendments
Section 1
The constitution may be amended in any way deemed necessary by the organization’s membership if the
motion to amend the constitution receives a majority vote amongst executive board members. Any
changes must be developed and communicated during an officially-sanctioned meeting. Any
amendments to the constitution must be ratified by a majority vote amongst executive board members.
