InSurreycompetitions,wehad6entriesintheunbadgedsingles.Suereachedthequarterfinals. Iteaminthetripleslostinround4butonlyaftertakingtheoppositiontoanextraend. 2016wasthe50thanniversaryofaffiliationandthiswasmarkedwithamatchagainsttheSurreyLadies Executive.AtthismeetingtheCountyPresidentawardedNestaWyattwithaLoyaltyServiceAward. Addressingthefutureofthebuildings,Davidexplainedthe3choicesthatfacetheClubnowtheLeaseisin placei.etodonothing,totrytorenovateortocompletelyrebuild.Giventhefaultshighlightedduringa conditionsurveyandknownissues,doingnothingisnotconsideredanoption.Refurbishmentwouldof necessitybeextensiveandsinceitisessentiallymaintenance,wouldbedifficulttofund.Adesignforanew buildingincludingchangingroomsbyFinnChristiansen(architect)wasshowntothemeeting*.Theessential featuresweredescribedas • Essentiallyafullglassfrontagewhichallowsgoodvisibilityofactiononthegreen,Eachalternateglass doorslidesopentoalloweasyaccesstothegreenand/oropenseatingtoview. • AwidenedclubhousewithalargerareatoentertainandbigenoughtopermitShortMatBowlsinthe winter • Anenlargedkitchen–some40%bigger,allowingspacetocaterproperlyforallfunctions • Internalaccesstotoilets. • thelandscapehasbeenflattenedrightacrossthesitewhichgivesstepfreeaccessthroughoutwhich cannotbedoneiftheexistingchangingroomsremain. • Thebuildingfitswiththelandscape,willbeeasytomaintainandwillbeself-sufficientinpowerand aboveallelse–WARMinwinter! Itisbelievedthatthecosttobearound£250,000.WiththehelpofActiveSurrey,wehaveidentified2main fundingstreamswhichmeetmostthiscost.InprincipleMVDCarebehindusinthiseffort. LEATHERHEAD BOWLING CLUB Currentlyasubcommitteeisworkingongettingcostestimates,seekingBuildingapprovalsanddeveloping fundingbidswithatargetstartdateofOCTOBER2016 Atthispointthemeetingwasinvitedtocommentandaskquestions.Pointsraisedincludedprotectingthe glassfrontage(withsteelscreens),thelevelofshadingandpossibilityofairconditioning.JohnWyattnoted theneedforfirm,fullycostedcontractswithpenaltyclausesshouldworknotbecompletedbythestartof thefollowingseason.Brendaassuredthemeetingthatmemberswouldbefullyconsultedbeforeanyfinal commitmentwasmade.
