a) TheTreasurerreported*theresultsofthe2016financialyear.OveralltheClubshowedaprofitof£4789for
theyear.
b) TonyPettexplainedtheneedgoingforwardtocreateaSinkingFund.Thisfundisringfencedsothat,should
theclubneedtobewounduptherewouldalwaysbefundstocovernecessarycosts.
GuyTortiseproposed,DavidLokkerbolsecondedthemotiontocreateaSinkingFundof£5000Themeeting
agreedonashowofhands.Therewerenoobjections
c) TheTreasurerreportedthatthecommitteeadvisethatthesubscriptionberaisedby£5peryearforthenext
5years.GuyTortiseproposedandChrisPelleysecondedthemotion.Themeetingagreedwithoutdissent
d) ItwasnotedthatanIndependentExaminer’sreport*fromDestaDickensonhadbeenreceived.Prompted
fromthefloor(JohnWyatt)itwasstatedthattheaudithadshownnoproblems.
e) TheTreasurer’sreportwasacceptedbythemeetingonashowofhands
f) BrianWilliamsgavetheCaptain’sreport*.HebeganbythankingeveryonefortheirsupportparticularlyRon
Burge,theLadiesCaptainandViceCaptain,andtoRayDawson.Brianreportedasuccessfulseasoninwhich
extrarinkswereplayedwhenotherclubscouldnotmatchthenumbersavailablefromLeatherhead.Overall
• theMenplayed8matches,won3,lost5.3cancelledbecausetheoppositioncouldnotraiseateam.
• Inmixedgames,weplayed23games,won12,lost9,drew1with2cancelled.

2016wasthe50thanniversaryofaffiliationandthiswasmarkedwithamatchagainsttheSurreyLadies
Executive.AtthismeetingtheCountyPresidentawardedNestaWyattwithaLoyaltyServiceAward.
SuethankedeveryonefortheirsupportparticularlyDavid,hergrandsonsHenryandJack,RobinSewelland
BrianWilliamsforthemealonLadiesDay,MavisandDestaforhardworkonInternalCompetitions,The
LadiescommitteeandBrendaasLadies’MatchandExternalCompetitionsSecretary,theGroundlingsand
theCoaches.SuethankedBrianandespeciallyViceCaptainAnneCollett.
h) TheClubSecretaryreported*onasuccessfulbutexhaustingyear.Insummary,membershipcontinuesto
improve,wedidbetterinExternalcompetitionsandLeaguesthaninaverylongtimeandwehaveagrowing
youthgroup.

DavidexplainedwhyClubmarkwassoimportant.HepointedoutthatClubmarkprovidestheframeworkfor
developmentoftheClub,itprovidesClub’sfocusandambitionfortheClubtogrow

• ParentalconfidencewhenchoosingthecorrectClubfortheirchild
• ConfidencebyegMVDCresultinginaverygoodlease

Addressingthefutureofthebuildings,Davidexplainedthe3choicesthatfacetheClubnowtheLeaseisin
placei.etodonothing,totrytorenovateortocompletelyrebuild.Giventhefaultshighlightedduringa
conditionsurveyandknownissues,doingnothingisnotconsideredanoption.Refurbishmentwouldof
necessitybeextensiveandsinceitisessentiallymaintenance,wouldbedifficulttofund.Adesignforanew
buildingincludingchangingroomsbyFinnChristiansen(architect)wasshowntothemeeting*.Theessential
featuresweredescribedas
• Essentiallyafullglassfrontagewhichallowsgoodvisibilityofactiononthegreen,Eachalternateglass
doorslidesopentoalloweasyaccesstothegreenand/oropenseatingtoview.
• AwidenedclubhousewithalargerareatoentertainandbigenoughtopermitShortMatBowlsinthe
winter
• Anenlargedkitchen–some40%bigger,allowingspacetocaterproperlyforallfunctions
• Internalaccesstotoilets.
• thelandscapehasbeenflattenedrightacrossthesitewhichgivesstepfreeaccessthroughoutwhich
cannotbedoneiftheexistingchangingroomsremain.
• Thebuildingfitswiththelandscape,willbeeasytomaintainandwillbeself-sufficientinpowerand
aboveallelse–WARMinwinter!
Itisbelievedthatthecosttobearound£250,000.WiththehelpofActiveSurrey,wehaveidentified2main
fundingstreamswhichmeetmostthiscost.InprincipleMVDCarebehindusinthiseffort.

Currentlyasubcommitteeisworkingongettingcostestimates,seekingBuildingapprovalsanddeveloping
fundingbidswithatargetstartdateofOCTOBER2016
Atthispointthemeetingwasinvitedtocommentandaskquestions.Pointsraisedincludedprotectingthe
glassfrontage(withsteelscreens),thelevelofshadingandpossibilityofairconditioning.JohnWyattnoted
theneedforfirm,fullycostedcontractswithpenaltyclausesshouldworknotbecompletedbythestartof
thefollowingseason.Brendaassuredthemeetingthatmemberswouldbefullyconsultedbeforeanyfinal
commitmentwasmade.
DavidproposedthatitberesolvedthatMembersofLeatherheadBowlingClubsupportaprojectforthe
rebuildingofitsfacilities.ThemotionwassecondedbyDerekWebb.MavisAndrewsvoicedconcernsof
absentmembersbutthemeetingcarriedthemotionotherwiseunanimously
Davidmovedontopointoutthatwhilstgenerallyvolunteeringwasstrongtherewassomefeelingthatthe
loadwasunequallyshared.VacanciesinClubOrganisationexistfor
