TASK 1: Role play
- 12 mins total prep time for TASKS 1 & 2
- Students can make 1x A4 side of notes to use in exam
- Role play can only be based on the following topics:
- accommodation
- applying for a job
- café / restaurant
- reporting and dealing with problems
- social activites
- school
- shopping and services
- tourist requirements eg directions
- travel arrangements
- FT: 1x unpredictable question (only present tense required); HT: 2x unpredictable questions (2 tenses required)
- Marked for communication only (not accuracy etc)

TASK 2: Questions based on picture stimulus
- 12 mins total prep time for TASKS 1 & 2
- Students can make 1 A4 side of notes to use in exam
- Assessment based on any of the GSCE topics excluding travel & tourist transactions
- Examiner asks 4x set questions and then continues conversation
- Range of tenses required in both tiers

TASK 3: Conversation based on 2 themes (1 is chosen by the student)
- No notes permitted
- Based on any 2 themes (both from the GCSE topics)
- Range of tenses required at both tiers
