Around the area of Konan exit of Shinagawa Station was the ocean. Gun batteries at the first Daiba to sixth Daiba were seen from Shinagawa Station which opened in 1873. Then the landfill of the ocean was developing, the area including two gun batteries named “Konan” in 1965. The Immigration Office, a meat market, and a sewage plant were only big buildings and few residences lived in Konan. After 1990s, skyscrapers and high-rise residences have been built, an east and west access way was complete in 1998, and Shinagawa station for Shinkansen was opened in 2003. This area is the huge office and residential area now but bar streets where workers want to go after five still exist.
