Haemophilia, which is described in Table 8.3 on page 192 of your textbook, is a sex-linked genetic disorder.
Doctors have known about this condition for literally thousands of years. Jewish sons were excused from
circumcision if there was a family history of bleeding after the operation.
A classic study of this disorder is in the modern royal family, which has many cases. Figure 2 shows a
pedigree of many of the descendants of Queen Victoria, including the present royal family. Examine this
pedigree chart and answer the following questions.
