will focus on number, the 4
operations, fractions, measurement, time and problem
solving.
If you would like to help your child at
home please practise the times tables
up to x12 with your children often. Also, there are many maths games online
to help your child practice their skills.
English: The pupils will be learning
the story of ‘Icarus’. They will also be
writing newspapers relating to the story.

Topic: How do things change?
This term the topic in Year 5 will be continuing to investigate the question above. Our
stimulus for this topic was a Greek themed day where children created Greek masks,
laurel wreaths and name plaques. We also had a taster of Ancient Olympic games.
In history, we will be looking at the lives and influences of Ancient Greeks on modern
civilisation. In Geography, we will be looking at the features of the UK and how they
change over time.
