THE STAFF BY MR. POTTER • CHAPTER 1 • THE GRAND STAFF In this book we are going to learn about the Grand Staff. The staff is the home for all the notes on the musical scale. It is made of two different staffs: Treble Clef and Bass Clef (tap on the pictures to learn more about each one) • Section 1 • Can you find the lines and spaces on the staff? The Staff 1. It is made up of 5 lines and 4 spaces. Line 2. Each notes sits on either a line or a space. 3. Each line and space has a letter name. 4. The letter names are different for the Treble Clef and Bass Clef. 5. Explore the picture to find the lines and spaces of the staff. Space 2 • CHAPTER 2 • THE TREBLE CLEF Let’s learn the notes of the Treble Clef! The Treble Clef (or G clef) is home to the higher notes. It is the most common clef. Most of the songs you know and sing find their home here on this staff. Anytime! 4 • CHAPTER 3 • THE BASS CLEF Let’s learn the notes of the Bass Clef! The Bass Clef (or F Clef) is home to the lower notes. The lines and spaces of the Bass Clef have different letter names than the Treble Clef, but there is an easy way to remember them, too.
