Cleveland Foundation Weekend in Lake County Saturday, Oct. 11 at Holden Arboretum 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Activities/Exhibits available at various locations all day: Scarecrow Row (Tent Site) o Collection of themed scarecrows created by area groups and organizations Rain Barrel exhibit (Near the Visitor Center) o Hand-painted by local artists, showcasing how beauty and clean water can complement each other Fossil dig, zip line, and Nature Play (Buckeye Bud’s Adventure Woods) o Buckeye Bud’s Adventure Woods is the arboretum’s kids’ outdoor play area that encourages “nature play” with lots of hands-on activities Leaf Trail nature hike (Map available at Information Booth) o The Leaf Trail is set up by the arboretum each fall to provide an opportunity for visitors and students to practice nature identification skills, primarily of native trees. Guests can use a map and identification key for self-guided hikes. Food donations for “Feed Lake County” campaign (Information Booth) 10 a.m. (Near the Shelter House) Holden Arboretum President & CEO Clement Hamilton presents Cleveland Foundation Executive Vice President Bob Eckardt with a baby elm tree and special plaque honoring the foundation’s centennial. The tree will be planted at the arboretum, with the plaque displayed nearby. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Activities available at various locations throughout the day: FREE bulb giveaway (Information Booth – Starting at 10 a.m., only while supplies last) FREE popcorn & lemonade (Near the Thayer Center. Food/beverage also available for purchase.) Corn stalk maze (Hedge Collection) Hay bale climbing (Display Garden) o Both the corn stalk maze and hay bale climbing structure were created by the arboretum’s horticultural staff Tree branch necklace craft (Craft Tent) Sign the giant birthday card for the Cleveland Foundation (Near the Visitor Center) 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. – (Craft Tent) SPECIAL LAKE METROPARKS FARMPARK PROGRAMMING o Corn Husk Doll Craft – Led by Farmpark staff members
