In that game, after a scoreless first, the Monarchs touched the Royals up for a power play goal early in the second; and, although Reading tied the game with PPG of their own, Manchester scored goal in the second and never trailed from that point forward. Reading did make a game of it with a late pulled goaltender, sixth attacker goal; but it proved too little, too late. • Reading’s loss last night stretched the team’s road losing streak to four (0-4-0-0), dating to a 6-1 loss to the Wheeling Nailers on November 13. The Royals’ last win on the road came on October 23 in Elmira (5-1). The last time that Reading lost more than three games in a row on the road was back in the 2009-10 season when the Royals established a team record by dropping seven in a row on the road (01/22 – 03/02/10). • The Monarchs scored their first goal in Friday’s game on their second power play chance of the evening. That marked the first power play goal scored against the Royals on the road all season long. Reading’s PK has killed 19 of the 20 road power plays against this season (95.0%) (best in the league). • Reading has allowed a power play goal against in three of the last four games (3 PPGA in 14 chances with the man advantage = 78.6% kill ratio). • The Royals’ first goal last night (by Justin Crandall), which tied the game at one 13:36 into the second period, was only the fourth road power play goal that Reading has scored this season (4 PPG in 30 chances with the man advantage = 13.3%). • Reading was outscored 2-1 in the second period of Friday’s game and collectively are a minus-7 (-7) in the second frame (20 goals for – 27 goals against). • Reading’s second goal (by Mike Pereira) came with just 1:24 remaining in regulation with the goaltender pulled and the sixth attacker on the ice. That marked the fourth sixth attacker goal scored by Reading in the last seven games played—and three of those late game goals have been scored by Mike Pereira. • The Royals were held to just twenty-two total shots in Friday’s game. That marked the fifth time this season that Reading has been held to 25 or less shots, and the team has gone 1-4-0-0 in those games. The four shots generated in the first period by Reading tied the team’s season low for a single period. • Justin Crandall, who scored the Royals’ first goal, is riding a six game point streak (3g-3a). His goal on Friday marked his third power play goal of the year, which is tied for second most amongst rookies in the league—as well as second most on the Royals. Crandall’s 19 points (7g-12a) in sixteen games is tied for fourth most amongst first year pros in the ECHL. • Kevin Young picked up the primary assist on Crandall’s power play goal. He has seven points in his last eight games (1g-6a=7pts). Young’s seven power play assists leads the team. • Adam Comrie also registered an assist on Crandall’s goal, giving him eighteen points (8g-10a) in nineteen games, which is second most amongst defensemen in the league. • Mike Pereira, who leads the Royals with ten goals and twenty points, is riding a four game goal scoring streak, which is the second longest active goal scoring streak in the league. He is tied for eleventh in league scoring.
