The Ontario Defibrillator Act Initiative (ODAI) will help to improve the heart safety of communities across Ontario with a targeted placement of 2,500 AEDs and the certification of 25,000 people on how to use them. • The Manitoba government has now proclaimed The Defibrillator Public Access Act, the first legislation of its kind in Canada, and as of January 2014 all public places in Manitoba listed within the regulations of the Act will be required by law to have an AED on site. • Since the mid to late 2007 to 2012 Middlesex County was the PAD coordinator for the County of Middlesex and London area. As of 2012 Middlesex-London EMS became the Public Access Coordinator for the County of Middlesex and the City of London. • In 2012 we were awarded 24 AEDs in our community. Recently MiddlesexLondon EMS was notified that we have been awarded an additional 51 AED’s to distribute within our community. Each unit comes with funding for training and maintenance.
