Fast For Word
As many of you know we are using a program called Fast For Word to help
progress in literacy and intelligence. The program is available from our class
website and from the Stephensen Elementary website (under the resource tab).
To help your child continue to move forward, please allow them to play the game
30 minutes a day over break. The program does not sleep and it will move them
backward if the children miss several days. Here is your child’s password and

Please Practice reading every day over break with your child. When children are
absent from school for even a couple of days it is easy to detect how much they have slipped in
their reading skills. Remember, children do not develop a concrete memory until they are 8
years old. Everything is very easily lost.
Pennies, Nickels, Dimes, Quarters
Here are the poems that I spoke to several of you about at Parent Teacher
Conferences.
Penny, Penny, easily spent, copper-brown and worth one cent.
Nickel, nickel, thick and fat. You’re worth five cents, I know that.
Dime, Dime, little and thin. I remember, you’re worth ten.
Quarter, Quarter, big and bold. You’re worth twenty-five cents I’m told.
It will be best to practice the rhymes when the children actually are looking
at, or holding a coin. When we say the Dime poem, we use a high, squeaky voice and
when we say the Quarter poem we use a big Papa-Bear voice.
I hope this helps you and your child conquer these coins for the final
marking period.
Have a GREAT break!!
We will see your child on Tuesday, April 5th
