Reignite: Three R’s and a T

You have heard of the three Rs in education, Conecuh County Schools has introduced our own
version; ReThink, ReIgnite, ReDesign. We have added a T as well. The result of our three “Rs”
will be a “T” – we are Transforming attitudes, achievement and ultimately lives.
Last time we discussed ReThink – how we are changing the way we are approaching education
in our county. Let’s take a look at our second “R”.
The best plan is just words on paper until those charged with executing it bring it to life. We
have a plan, and now it is up to us to put it in play: ReIgnite is how we get all our
stakeholders involved to put that plan in play.
We are working to ensure that each of the more than 250 caring adults employed by our schools
understands the plan and our purpose. It is critical that every teacher, custodian, bus driver,
principal, cafeteria worker – EVERY employee knows their role and how important each one is
to the success of our students. Without every person doing their part, from the board, to the
superintendent, to each part-time substitute, we will fail. And failure is not an option. We are
responsible for providing the best opportunity for every student to be successful in school and
ultimately in life.
We are ReIgniting our employees with professional development – providing training in their
areas of expertise. We will continue to develop the way we teach students in the classroom, to
improve our “customer service”, and even ensure we are using the most efficient methods of
cleaning our schools.
We are also working to ReIgnite two of the most important elements of our success; our parents
and our community. We need everyone in Conecuh County working with us. The support of our
volunteers and Partners in Education is critical to fulfilling our purpose.
Parents are the key to student performance. The simple acts of talking to your children each day
about what they learned in school and checking their homework can show them how much
education means to you – and their future.
Our goal is to be the best school district in the state of Alabama. We are working to help students
reach academic success. In Conecuh County Schools, we have redefined the 3R’s and added a T.
We are ReThinking, ReIgniting, ReDesigning and Transforming Lives.
