Centaur Products is Proud to work with Canada’s Recreational & Fitness Facilities
The Canadian recreational marketplace has seen a number of high-
profile projects take place in recent years. Incorporating the use of
Innovative new product development, creative design concepts, the
emergence of new environmentally-friendly materials and a strong
emphasis on sustainable building practices which have all contributed
to the creation of many truly spectacular recreational facilities in our
country. We are very proud to have been involved with many of these
projects and the following booklet showcases some of the impressive
work in the recreational sector that has taken place in Canada in
recent years.
NEW SYNTHETIC TURF TECHNOLOGY
Throughout our nearly 40 year history we have
been actively
searching out the best sport surfacing and sport equipment products
in the world and focussed on bringing these products to our Canadian
customers. One of the most impressive technological advancements
in sports surfacing has come from artificial turf and running track
manufacturer, Polytan. This German-based company is redefining
the expectations of quality and safety for synthetic turf throughout the
world and Centaur is very proud to have introduced their products
to North America. Polytan invests heavily into R & D and product
testing having developed a number of improvements in the design
of synthetic turf products through the introduction of a Poly-Shock
Pad underlayment for athlete safety, eco-friendly material options,
reduced maintenance demands and infra-red reflection technology
which significantly reduces field temperature during hot days.
While
a
number
of
Universities
in
North
Americahave
adopted
Polytan’s new technology,
the
City
of
Brampton
Ontario, at
the
Terry Fox Track & Field Terry Fox Track & Field Stadium
Stadium is one of the first
municipality’s to use Polytan’s innovative new system and they have
been very happy with the results. Centaur supplied and installed
the synthetic turf, IAAF running track, seating, scoreboard and video
display for this very impressive facility which is now a critical part of the
Brampton sports scene.
RECENT RECREATIONAL FACILITY PROJECTS
Centaur has also worked with a number of spectacular indoor
recreational projects. The Saville Community Sports Centre, in
Edmonton Alberta is an impressive 220,000 square foot facility with over
130,000 square feet of high-quality Robbins hardwood gymnasium
flooring. This facility has one of the largest hardwood surfaces in all of
North America. Another
spectacular facility is
the Richmond Olympic
Oval, which following
the Vancouver 2010
Olympic Games has
been
converted
to
a
multi-purpose
recreational
facility
which has a number of
hardwood gymnasium
court surfaces as well
Richmond Olympic Oval
as 70,000 square feet of
Pulastic SP (Spike Proof) synthetic sports flooring in the form of several
multi-purpose court areas, a 110-metre sprint track and a 200-metre
running track among a host of other fitness and sports areas.
The Langley Events Centre, located in Langley BC, has used a number
of innovative products in their facility including a portable turf solution
for lacrosse, used by the Langley Thunder, finalists and host location
of the 2011 Mann Cup (the WLA Championship). In addition, Centaur
helped to supply and install a four-sided, Daktronics video display
which gives the facility the capabilities to produce a very impressive
in-game experience for fans of all the differenent teams that play at
the facility. A number of highschool and recreation league basketball
also takes place in the triple-gymnasium which was supplied and
installed by Centaur.
Centaur has been highly committed to the growth and support of
recreation and fitness in Canada for nearly 40 years, The past few
years have seen the completion of a number of outstanding facilities
and we are very proud to have been involved with these projects. We
are excited about the future of sport in Canada.
