Folklore Project Project is due to be presented Friday, 9/4/15. We’ve been studying myths, fables, and legends since the beginning of the school year. Choose one of the following projects, and turn it in for your folklore unit test grade. Remember, it is a TEST grade, so do your very best work. Turn it in ON TIME! Choices: 1. Write Your Own Myth, Fable, or Legend If you choose to write your own myth, fable, or legend, please use your notes, and remember the criteria for whichever you are writing (for example: fables teach a lesson, have talking animals, etc.) You must write 3 pages, and should write no more than 4 pages. Do not skip lines! The front and back of a page equals two pages. Be as creative as you wish, and be school appropriate! 2. Diorama Create a shoebox-size diorama of an ESTABLISHED fable, myth, or legend (you may not make up just any scene; it must be from a fable, myth, or legend already written.) It does not necessarily have to be a story we’ve already read in class. If you choose a story not read in class, you must have the story approved by your teacher before due date. The diorama should depict a defining moment from the story you choose, and you must include a short summary of the story chosen (5-8 sentences). Be creative! I’ve seen legos, clay models, 3-D drawings, and many other kinds of dioramas. 3. Comic Book Create a comic book with five scenes from an ESTABLISHED myth, fable, or legend (must be approved by teacher before due date). The five scenes should be the introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, and conclusion of the story. The comic book must be illustrated (illustrate means draw AND color). There should be only one scene per page. Be sure to narrate each page, with 3-5 sentences per page to explain the story. You may use construction paper, notebook paper, or copy paper. Please staple or bind your comic book. 4. Script/Act it Out Choose a fable, myth, or legend we have read in class, and write a script based on it. You may work with up to three other people (four total), or you may work alone or in a smaller group (group of 3 or in partners). If you choose to work with a group, choose wisely. You will act out your script in class. Your play should be at least 3 minutes long, and no longer than 4 minutes. Advice: every group member should have a script to make your play flow smoothly. Practice, and time yourselves as you practice! Keep in mind that you are NOT graded on props, but on how well you write about and present the fable, myth, or legend.
