Emerging and established artists are invited to submit works in any medium for Quay Arts’ biennial Open Exhibition 2017. West Gallery, Quay Arts, Isle of Wight

APPLICATION FORM & GUIDELINES
OPEN 2017 Brief: With the title and theme “I must down to the seas again” from John Masefield’s original ‘Sea Fever’ poem, we’re looking for sea and marine inspired works that reflect our love, fear, and curiosity about the sea. Any medium will be considered but must be within 2m x 2m, max no of works x2. Selected marine‐based works and artefacts from the Isle of Wight Council Heritage Services will also be displayed in the exhibition, revealing a wonderful array of works inspired by the Island’s coastline. A full programme of live events will accompany this exhibition as well as a school’s response show in the gallery. Prize:
One artist will be selected from the Open Exhibition 2017 for a solo exhibition at Quay Arts in the West Gallery in 2019. Selection Panel:

About Quay Arts:
Quay Arts is situated within an ex‐brewery warehouse on the banks of the River Medina and is the leading Arts Centre on the Isle of Wight. Quay Arts supports the development and display of new work by contemporary visual artists. The West Gallery was designed by award‐winning architect Tony Fretton (Camden Arts Centre, Lisson Gallery, ArtSway) and presents work of national and international interest. It has hosted eclectic exhibitions including solo shows by Rachel Whiteread, Andy Goldsworthy, Kurt Jackson, Martin Creed and more recently, Richard Long.

Entrants must be 18 years or over. Complete the application form below and attach all relevant documentation. £20 submission fee must be made within 24 hours of application submission via cash, cheque or phone. All cheques should be made payable to ‘Steve Ross Foundation for the Arts’. Phone payments: 01983 822490 Mon–Sat 9am ‐ 5pm (phone line maybe busy at times). Any submissions without payment after 24hrs will not be considered. Applications will not be considered if received after the closing date. Terms & Conditions:
Works must be available for the duration of the exhibition. The selection panel’s decision is final and the display of works is at the discretion of the curatorial team. Quay Arts reserves the right to use images submitted to publicise the exhibition. Where appropriate, all selected work must be properly framed and glazed to a high standard with fixings attached when delivered to Quay Arts. Quay Arts reserves the right not to exhibit a selected piece if it does not meet the presentation standards.
