Act in accordance with the NSW WHS Act 2011, WHS Regulation 2011 and the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Management System to ensure a safe place of work. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Spatial Information Systems or a related field. Experience in GIS. Driver's Licence. AUTHORITY: The incumbent has the authority to take any reasonable action that is consistent with the responsibilities of the position and to ensure the safe and efficient undertaking of work activities, which are consistent with the responsibilities of the position. The incumbent’s authority is subject to any limitation imposed by the Management Team, Corporate Policies, Procedures and Work Instructions. Position Description- Geographical Systems Officer (BCC642, BCC635) Page 2 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Maintenance of the GIS data to meet the needs of Council. Data input to a high degree of accuracy. Ability to resolve data conflicts in a logical and consistent manner. Promote the use of the GIS. Provide GIS information. WHS: Act in accordance with the NSW WHS Act 2011, WHS Regulation 2011 and the WHS Management System. Implement, monitor and, or comply with councils WHS Management System, including but not limited to WHS Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments/Work Instructions and associated system tools in their relevant work area. Adequately familiarise themselves with their WHS responsibilities and actively fulfil these as indicated in the WHS Responsibilities guideline WHS001. WHS001- Matrix is attached. High accuracy (99%) for all data entered into Council's Geographic Information System. Create a high level of user confidence in Council's Geographic Information System.. Achieve results in an unsupervised work environment. Maintenance of a Geographic Information System. Knowledge of Land Information Systems and standard desktop environments. Achieve results as part of a team-based work environment. Provide Customer Service at Council's Information Counter when required. Provide customised plots and reports from the GIS. Ability to resolve data conflicts in a logical and consistent manner. The system users are encouraged to participate in data integrity and in the use of the GIS for their information needs. Excellent customer relations. Advice issued is communicated effectively, thorough and helpful having regard to the needs of GIS users. Compilation of thorough and concise reports and internal memorandums. High level of customer satisfaction for all dealings with internal and external customers. Internal referrals, reports, and correspondence are prepared within the timeframes agreed to with the Land Information Coordinator / Manager Business Technology. Communicates to the Land Information Coordinator / Manager Business Technology of emerging or current issues which may impact on the level of service or the professional image of the section. Site inspections as required. Carry out any other duties as may be directed by the Land Information Coordinator, Manager Business Technology or the Director of Finance and Corporate Strategy.
