May they rest in peace WELCOME to all our visitors – coffee will be served in the hall after the 11.00 am Mass and you are very welcome to join us. This month, coffee is served after Mass at Budleigh on 19 June. All most welcome. There is a children’s liturgy every week during the 11.00 Mass and all young children are invited. Those not receiving Holy Communion during Mass are warmly invited to come forward for a blessing. Check out Pope Francis’ daily tweets on Twitter ‘Remain steadfast in the journey of faith, with firm hope in the Lord. This is the secret of our journey!’ May I express gratitude for the many generous donations to the Children’s Society following my recent half-marathon. Between the parish and my colleagues at work we cleared £750. Truly, doing the run is the easier part. Giving from our own finances can hurt more, especially if we are not earning. The parish continues to be a generous source of love to the most vulnerable. Thank you too to Fr Philip for his help. David Wells Men’s Lunch Club meet every 3rd Thursday of the month at the Merchant, in the Strand at 12.30 pm– all welcome CAFOD Coffee and cake mornings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 10.30am. Do please come and support our fundraising for this worthy charity. The monthly Craft Club meet again on Saturday 18th June from 10.00am – 12.00pm in Holy Ghost parish hall – you are most welcome to call in, join them for a coffee and see just what they do each month. On Thursday 16th June at 2.00 p.m. in Holy Ghost Hall, Fr. Philip will give a talk about Funeral Planning. This will give you the opportunity to ask lots of questions in a very informal setting so that you can talk to your family about your wishes. The talk will take place during a UCM gathering, and everyone is welcome to come, listen and stay for tea. Safeguarding in our parish – I would like to thank John Ingham who has for many years, been looking after the Safeguarding administration for our parish. The demands of this role are ever increasing. I am therefore delighted that Siobhan Canham has now been trained by the Diocese and has been appointed as a Safeguarding Representative, to help John and share the workload. Siobhan will be available after each mass this weekend to talk to those parishioners who have recently received correspondence reminding them that their ‘D.B.S’ checks need renewing. If you are not available this weekend, please contact the parish office to make an appointment with Siobhan ASAP. ‘Day for Life’ is celebrated annually by the Catholic Church in Ireland, Scotland and England and Wales. It is a day dedicated to raising awareness about the meaning and value of human life at every stage and in every condition. ‘Day for Life’ was initiated by Pope John Paul II, to encourage the Catholic Church worldwide to promote and celebrate the sacredness of life. In his 1995 Encyclical Letter, Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life), the late Pope John Paul II proposed that “a day for life be celebrated each year in every country.” The primary purpose of this day should be “to foster in individual consciences, in families, in the Church, and in civil society, recognition of the meaning and value of human life at every stage and in every condition” (EV #85). On the weekend of 18th / 19th June there will be a 2nd collection after each mass for this cause. Thank you for your prayers and any contribution you can make to support this cause. Building the parish of the Holy Family…..parish ‘matchbox’ census…… a reminder to those of you who haven’t yet returned your form to help us update the parish records; please can you bring them with you to mass next weekend, or drop into the parish office during the week.
