Afternoon Car Rider Parents, The following outlines car rider procedures in place at CES: Both lanes are used during car rider dismissal. The drive is lined off in 12 sections. If you are the first two cars to arrive we ask that you pull all the way to the front of the 2 lanes and pull your front tires to the white line. Each lane is divided into sections – please pull all the way up to the orange cone of each section. Your car should be in a section with another car directly across from you. You will note the divider lines in each lane. On the sidewalk are colors for each driveway section. Students are seated in the gym – their name is called along with the number of your car’s placement in the lane – example: Elliott Benson, Avery Lowery #1. Students then leave the gym and are directed to go to their number on the sidewalk. They have been instructed not to go to your car until an adult working for CES tells them to do so. Please refrain from motioning for your child to come to your car. Allow the adults working outside to make the call for students to go to their respective cars. You are unintentionally causing a potential safety issue for the children when you do not allow the adults supervising to initiate student movement toward the cars. The employees are waiting for all cars to stop rolling prior to telling students to go to their respective car. If your car is not pulled up into the correct section of the lane it can cause a delay. We ask that you please stay in your car. You can assist us in the following ways: Follow the correct traffic flow. Pulling all the way up and staying in line with the car across from you – the divider lines on the lanes should assist you with this and the orange cones. Place your car rider card in your window – the employee you first see with the radio is looking for that card and calls to the gym for your child – if he/she cannot see the car tag they cannot call for your child. Do not get out of your car. Talk with your child about the side of the car you will need them to go to for their car seat. Talk to your child about listening for the number they are to go to once outside - students listening for their name and number while in the gym is key to expediting your pick up wait time. If your student has not made it to your car and the line begins to move – go with the line – when you make it to the front you will be asked to pull to the side and wait for your child. Afternoon Rainy Weather Note: On days of heavy rain – as many of you know – flooding in the drive is sometimes an issue – we may have to go to a single lane on those few rainy days. Our parents have always shown us wonderful consideration on the rainy days. The positive support from CES parents means so much to our teachers and educational assistants working car rider dismissal. I thank you for your cooperation, Julie Benson, Principal (Morning Car Rider Procedures On Back)
