Letter Grade Calculation

Letter Grade Calculation
Skyward uses the following steps to convert the grades shown for each content standard on the report
card into an overall course letter grade. THE INTERDISCIPLINARY SKILLS SCORES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN
THE CALCULATION.
1. Convert 4-point trend grades to their 100-point equivalents. Skyward uses a 100-point scale
when performing calculations. A linear transformation is used to convert trend grades on a 4point scale to grades on a 100-point scale.
The table below shows the 100-point equivalents to each of the possible trend grades on the 4-point
scale.

2. Average the Standard/Strand Trend Grades. The 100-point equivalents of the trend grades for
each standard/strand are averaged.
Example: Integrated Science 8 for third quarter (Q3)
A “/” indicates that the standard was not sufficiently addressed during that quarter to report a grade.

Note: The average is score is rounded to the second decimal place (hundredth place). Skyward therefore
would use 59.52 in any further calculations.
3. Determine a Letter Grade Using the Table Below. The average score is compared to the
different 100-point ranges to determine a letter grade.
The average score of 59.52 falls within the B- Letter range. This is the letter grade that would be
reported.
