Election Day Bake Sale - Tuesday, November 2nd - 7 am to 8 pm The funds earned from the Election Day bake sale will be used to help fund the Summer Reading program. This annual program entertains and encourages people young and old to spend their extra time reading during the lazy days of summer. Children, teens and adults record the time they spend reading in exchange for a chance to win a prize or in the case of the younger children to pick a prize. The staff members start planning for this seven week program in December. During this month we need to place our order for preprinted advertising and incentive items. Since approximately 300 people typically participate in just the reading for prizes portion of this program this purchase price is significant. Throughout the summer reading program we also hold at least 16 programs that are geared to entertain children, families or just adults. Some of the programs are lead by our staff members, some by community volunteers and others by paid professional performers. Even if a program is being put on by us or a volunteer we usually need to purchase bits and pieces so we can play games or make a craft. During the summer of 2010, a total of 772 people attended our events. Will you help us make the summer reading program of 2011 a success? Please drop off ready for sale wrapped baked goods at the Library on Monday, November 6th between 9 and 8 pm or early in the morning on Tuesday. Pricing will be done by volunteers. If you are able to donate baked goods please stop by the Library, call 533-8534 or email [email protected] to let us know that we can count on your support. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. If you have a favorite holiday book that we don’t own, please give your suggestion to any library employee so we can consider adding that book to our collection. Happy Holidays!
