sensational Monashee and Selkirk Mountain ranges. Bordering
on Mount Revelstoke National Park and 45 minutes west of the
summit of Rogers Pass and the heart of Glacier National Park.
Craigellachie, the site of the ‘driving of the last spike’ to
complete the Canadian Pacific Railway and unite our country is
just a short 30 minute drive west of Revelstoke.
Heritage homes, the Victorian ambience of downtown,
museums, cultural attractions and the ultimate in outdoor
experiences combine to make Revelstoke an unspoiled treasure
in a mountain paradise.
Economic Base
Transportation, both rail and highway, are significant
employment generators. The forest industry accounts for over
20% of basic employment income for the community. The
growth and development of the tourism and hospitality sector
over the past thirty years have contributed to the diversification
of the local economy. This sector provides 16% of Revelstoke’s
base employment income. The natural environment; summer
and winter recreational activities; history and heritage of the
area; and location on major transportation routes provide
opportunities for further significant tourism development.
Revelstoke Mountain Resort boasts the longest vertical ski-run
in North America and the 4th longest in the world and opened
“The Pipe” a new mountain coaster ride in 2016.

Tourism Potential

the community during the summer season. Highway
traffic counts indicate a potential 2.75 million visitors
