S chool nurs ing is a s pecialized practice of nurs ing that advances the well-being, academic s ucces s , and lifelong achievement and health of s tudents . S chool nurs e activities promote health equity, dis eas e prevention, health literacy and increas es s eat time. It is the position of the National Association of School Nurses that school nurses play an essential role in keeping children healthy, safe, and ready to learn (NASN, 2016) Benefits of a nurse in every building? (Core focus : keeping s tudents healthy and in s chool) S ubmitted $664,220 to Medicaid for reimburs ement of s ervices by nurs es and pers onal care as s is tants for the 2015-16 s chool year. Utilizing S ynergy Health to capture s tudent health data and improve documentation, s aving funds which would have been neces s ary to purchas e commercially available health documentation s ys tems .
