We value: Respect, responsibility, integrity, honesty and personal excellence
Goodness me, we’ve had a busy couple of weeks! There have been lots of
wonderful extra ac1vi1es added to our regular programme. Yesterday we had a
great day at the Botanic Gardens. The weather was perfect and the students
were perfectly behaved, as they always are when we go out. Mrs O’Connell
organised the day well and the students learned a lot about Indonesian plants—
all in all, a really good day. There’s a picture on the back page—credit must go
to our SRC Photographer, Tom, who took half of the photos.

Congrats to Show Winners
On the last weekend of February it was the
Angaston Show. Some people entered in some
fantastic entries which did really well.
On the 3rd of March a guy named
Chris came to our school and
performed “The Loaded Dog” by
Henry Lawson.
In the colouring competition Caleb got first prize as
well as Hannah Parks, Mitchell and Kimberley.
Anneliese, Tillie, Jessie and Brooke came third in
the colouring competition. Brooke also came first
with her Lego and photography, second with her kit
car and bread, third with her pillow and most
successful in handicraft. Hannah Parks also came
first in literacy with her Mawson poem and first and
third with her photography. Felix came first for his
dinosaur biscuits and second with his bantam
chook. Zehta came first with her kitten. Jack did
really well with his grapes and came first for just a
good grape, first for the lightest grape and second
for the heaviest. He also came first in photography,
a collection of farm things and two firsts for his
eggs. Jessie came third for a wooden snake and a
drawing and first for her tomato. Kimberley got a
second and third in her art and also two seconds
and third with her photography. She also came third
with her scrapbook page and second with her card.
She won the Junior Ambassador. Lilli did really well
with her art with two firsts, a second and most
successful painter.
The story was about a dog named Tommy with his
three mates Chris, Dave and Andy. First of all Chris
played a tune on his harmonica. Then he talked
about how Dave, Andy and he came to dig for gold
and he also told us about the yellow, mean mongrel
of a dog who would snap at people’s feet and lots
of other stuff.
It was great to see so many Keyneton students
enter and we hope lots of people enter again next
year.
Both reports by SRC Reporter - Libby Fiebiger
The reason it was called “The Loaded Dog” is
because Dave and Andy made a big bomb thing to
put in the water and blast all the fish out when they
weren’t biting. Surprisingly, when they were having
a cup of tea Tommy the dog got the bomb and went
around the fire and the fuse caught alight!!!! Then
Chris ran off and Dave followed but Andy didn’t
realise as quickly as the other two and when he ran
off after the others Tommy followed!!!
Finally Tommy got nipped by the yellow mongrel
dog and let go of the bomb then ran off. What
happened next was a good thing because the yellow dog got blown up!
I thought that Chris did a brilliant job telling us the
story and in the end it was all worth it!
YEL
(YOUNG ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERS)
On Monday the 4th of March we went to the NRM YEL program at Monarto Sporting Complex. Our
topic was Climate Change.
When we got there we did the getting to know you activity. We had to meet somebody new then find
something that is part of nature and give it to the person we found out about.
Then we went under a tarp to demonstrate how the Ozone layer traps in the sun’s rays after hitting
the ground and bouncing back up. Next we had to demonstrate how much greenhouse gas we let off.
We did a pollution role play where Lachlan and Tom were methane-making animals and Hannah and
Libby were electricity-making factories. Soon after that we ate our recess and got ready for the next
activity.
Following recess we went for a bush walk and talked about what animals might live there such as
possums, kangaroos, ants, spiders, snakes, lizards and many more! After the bush walk we had to
get together with someone else from another school and create some bush art that represented
climate change. Lunchtime was next and we sat down in our group.
The final activity was to do a quiz about what type of learning suited us best. Overall it was a great
day and we can’t wait for our next session in Term 2.

Wet Library
Books
Would you please make sure your
children have their library books in a
SEPARATE bag,
NOT inside their school bag.
We’ve had a number of new library
books ruined by leaking drink boLles
recently.
