SPECIALTY DAY CAMPS MORE TO EXPLORE 2017 SPRING INTERSESSION March 20 - March 24, 2017 MILILANI YMCA SPRING INTERSESSION March 20 - 24, 2017 Registration Information REGISTRATION: Register online at www.ymcahonolulu.org, by mail, or in person at the Mililani YMCA. Financial Assistance is unavailable for specialty day camps. Space is limited. Register early. Specialty Camp Checklist ALL EXCURSIONS CAMPS: Camps that are scheduled to be offsite of the Mililani YMCA branch, we ask that all children report to the YMCA by 8:00am. Specialty Camps early drop-off and late pick-up available from 6am to 6pm for no additional costs. WHAT TO BRING: Water Bottle, Morning & Afternoon Snack, Lunch, Sunscreen, extra clothes and shoes. Children may be swimming in certain camps, so please be sure to bring Towel, Extra Clothes, Sunscreen, Reef walkers, Goggles (optional). Please be sure that children their items clearly labeled. Certain excursions will have nearby stores and shops available for children to purchase any extra items. Please do not rely on the stops for your children’s snack and lunch. PAYMENT/CANCELLATION POLICY: Payment must be made prior to the start of the program. A $25 fee will be applied for any check or credit card payments returned from you financial institution due to insufficient funds. Please call the Mililani YMCA at 625-1040 as soon as possible if you need to change your child’s program. Cancellations must be in writing and received at least 5 days prior to the start of the program. A non-refundable 30% processing fee (maximum of $50) will be applied. DHS REIMBURSEMENT PAPERWORK: Parents receiving DHS benefits and need their DHS 918Childcare Certificate and Provider Confirmation Form completed must pay for the program in full. PEANUT FREE ZONE: Please refrain from packing peanut based snack or lunch. 2 ON-SITE SPECIALTY CAMP OFF-SITE SPECIALTY CAMPS MINECRAFT ENGINEERING AND ADVENTURE WITH LEGO (K-3RD) Play-Well TEKnologies presents a Minecraft-inspired, LEGO®-centric STEM program that explores the world of engineering, design, physics and architecture. In this all day camp students will bring Minecraft to life with access to over 20,000 pieces of LEGO and create engineer-designed projects such motorized Creepers, a Portal to the Nether and moving Minecarts. Complete design challenges, performance tests, and modifications to individual and group-based projects. For the second half of the day, students will participate in Play-Well's Minecraft Adventure Game where resourcefulness, creativity and cooperation come together in this unique building survival game. Roll the dice to mine for resources, craft tools to help on your adventures and watch out for Creepers! This LEGO experience is an original game designed by Play-Well instructors based on the popular game, Minecraft. Students will have a blast, even without any prior experience with Minecraft or LEGO. OFF THE HOOK! (3RD - 7TH) What a better way to spend your break than fishing! Explore various fishing areas from shore-casting, pier fishing, to lakefront! Campers will learn to tie basic knots, casting, crabbing, pole fishing, and marine species of the island. Reef walkers recommended. All materials will be provided for this course. Each day campers will learn a new jewelry making technique such as wire beading, rubber band loom pieces, weaving friendship bracelets, Duct-Tape wallets, and many other accessories. All materials will be provided for this course. Monday - Friday $235 Barcode: 72518 8:00 am to 4:00 pm SURVIVE WITH THE Y (3RD - 7TH) Build a shelter, find a water source, build a fire…without matches or lighters. No matter what specific activities and adventures we have during a week of Survive with the Y Camp, our goals remain the same… that your child have fun, while learning about nature and themselves. At the end of a week with us, we hope that you see in your child increased self-confidence, as well as excitement about an assortment of new skills and stories of adventure.
