FALL INTO PLACE AT YOUR YMCA

Fall 2016
FALL INTO PLACE AT YOUR YMCA
Bootcamp: We want to keep you guessing and challenge you differently in every class.
Workouts are designed to improve your overall fitness – strength, cardio, flexibility, agility
and endurance! Dumbbells, body bars, bands, kettlebells, med balls, ropes, bosu balls
and wall balls will be used.
Cycle Fit: Take a bike trip and meet new friends without leaving the YMCA. Cycle Fit
is an indoor cycling class led by a qualified instructor. This class will build cardiovascular, strength, and endurance. It is a great class for those who are seasoned cyclers and
those who are new to this type of workout.
Express Abs and Weights: Grab a co-worker and head to the YMCA on your lunch
hour for an express “quick” Abs & Weights workout. This class is a series of core exercises that will build strength and will get your workout in over your lunch hour.
Functional Strength 55+ (Introduction): Functional Strength involves training the body
for the activities performed in our daily lives. You will be taught the importance of proper
form and technique to develop strength in all muscle groups.
HIIT: High Intensity Interval Training has become a popular way to burn more fat, improve endurance, and build strength. Low to moderate intensity intervals are alternated
with high intensity intervals. HIIT allows you to burn more calories all day long!
Adult Karate: Add an extra work out by doing Do Shotokai at the YMCA. This program is
delivered by Bob Bennett, Sandan.
Low Impact Aerobics: You will be taken through a series of stationary walking exercises
that will include using light weights to strengthen your arms.
Men’s Fitness: Join a group of men as you build strength and increase your cardio while
having fun. A friendly game of ball hockey or basketball always ends the class.
Tabata: Tabata training is one of the hottest trends to build muscle and scorch body fat. A
combination of exercises done in a protocol of 20 seconds of work with 10 seconds of rest
for 8 rounds will blast calories.
Tai Chi: Take part in this peaceful class that has a hidden workout that you will feel the next
day. Bob will take you through a sequence of yoga, meditation and stretching.
Waterpolo: Join others in a friendly team-focused game. Learn the basics of water polo passing, catching and shooting. You must be able to swim one length of the pool. You will
also learn the basics of picking up a ball from underneath, correct body position, various
treading water techniques and water polo strokes to cover a distance of 10-15m
Youth : Ages 8-12: Sunday 12-1pm
Teen: Ages 13-17: Sunday 1-2pm
Adult : Ages 18 plus: Sunday
W.O.W: Women will come together in a comfortable setting to learn proper form and technique while strength training. You will meet new friends and grow your confidence in using
weights.
Yoga: Relax with us at the YMCA. This is a discipline of breath control, simple meditation,
and the adoption of specific bodily postures, practiced for health and relaxation.
Chair Yoga
This is a slow class that will use a chair to modify poses to make them more accessible. This
class will help you achieve greater lung capacity, improved circulation, increased muscular
strength and joint lubrication. It will help you to create a calm mind and to improve your mental wellness.
Power Yoga
This routine will provide cardiovascular benefits, as well as build strength and increase flexibility. The sun salutation flows will be practiced to warm the body in preparation for standing
sequences that will power up the muscles and bring focus to alignment. Take your practice
to a new edge while you build strength, get the heart pumping and relax your mind.
Zumba Gold: Be inspired by Micky’s energy in this Latin enthused dance-fitness program
that is designed for active older adults.
Zumba Toning: Combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high energy cardio with
Latin infused Zumba moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness
class. Using Zumba sticks or lightweight dumbbells, you will work every muscle group!
