Revelation: Unveiling of the otherwise unknown; to lighten (enlighten), by the supernatural of the Holy Spirit. Religion brings head knowledge of God, of the Word of God, of Christ’s position as Messiah, Savior, Redeemer. The Holy Spirit adds enlightenment to this knowledge in order for us to see the hidden truths of this Grace Gospel. His goal is heart-knowledge for a deep and personal relationship with God as Father, Jesus as Lord and Holy Spirit as our personal Parent, Teacher and Mentor here on earth. Paul’s constant prayer for the Church was that we would know God by revelation, that we would know Christ by revelation, that we would receive the Holy Spirit who desires to unveil this revelation to us! “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.” Ephesians 1:17 The Old Covenant is of the natural and focuses on what we can do to have a relationship with God. It tells us how to earn God’s love for ourselves and His blessings on our lives. The New Covenant is supernatural and is obtained by revelation knowledge. It is a new covenant, given to us by Jesus who redeemed us and set us free from the curse of the law. Jesus redeemed us from the curse by becoming a curse on the cross. Paul brought to us the message of grace. It is a message that even today has many Christians baffled. It is hard for many Christians to accept the message of Grace. When you become born again, I think our natural reaction is, “What can I do to please God?” What can I do to have the blessing in my life? What can I do to have the Promises of God in my life? But, the Covenant of Grace says you no longer have to earn the blessing. You don’t have to earn the Promises of God. The Covenant of Grace is a covenant of what Christ has already done for us. Galatians 3:14 (TPT) 14 “Jesus, our Messiah was hung upon a “tree,” bearing the curse in our place and in so doing, dissolved it from our lives, so that all the blessing of Abraham can be poured out upon even non-Jewish believers.” Jesus became a curse for us. It says in the Scripture, cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole. So what does this mean? We are free from our past, present and 9 future sins. We have been completely set free! The curse has been dissolved! It has been deleted. Now we can rest and live in all the blessings of Abraham. 10 DAY TWO Misinformed people will tell you that you have to earn the blessings of God. It’s just not true. In fact, the blessing will fight for you! The blessings of God will fight for you, and they want to set you up for a victorious life! There is a story in Judges 4 about the Israelites. They were in the Promise land, they are supposed to be experiencing all of God’s goodness, but another nation has come in and has begun to take over. They were stealing from them, imprisoning them, and oppressing them. The Word of the Lord came to the commander of the Israel army, Barak. The Lord told him, I want you to assemble an army of 10,000 men and I want you to go and fight against the enemy Sisera and his mighty army. Sisera had a mighty army of 900 iron chariots. So, there was a lot of fear and what looked like an impossible fight. But, how many of you know that we serve the God of the impossible? So, Barak assembles the 10,000 soldiers and they wage war on Sisera and his army. Of course, God goes before him and defeats the battle and the only person that survived was the commander Sisera. He climbed a mountain, and went into the village to the house of Heber and Jael. Now Jael descended from the house of the Moses lineage. Jael’s husband was not there, so Jael invites Sisera into her tent. He asks for a drink of water but she gives him a glass of milk. Sisera then falls asleep. Then Jael takes a tent peg and drives the tent peg through his temple. She defeated the enemy. Jael is a picture of US. She is a picture of you and I. Now, Barak, the commander of the Israelite army, his name means: blessing. Here’s Jael, she is just minding her own business in her village. Jael didn’t have to fight in the army. She didn’t have to go to battle. She wasn’t called out into the army to fight. She may not have even 11 known there was a battle going on that day. And Barak (the blessing) went and fought for her. The picture is this: the blessing is fighting for you. 12 DAY THREE The Blessing will FIGHT for YOU! We all have the junk of our pre-Christian life. That junk may be insecurity. It may be doubt. It could be fear or shame. Whatever it may be, the blessing is fighting, and waging battle on that area of your life. The blessing fights for you. The blessing says, “I have not given you a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind!” It wages war on the fears in your life and in your heart. The blessing fights for you and it defeats them in our lives. Sometimes we may not even know that the blessing is waging war. That it is helping us overcome things in our lives. But, praise God; God is fighting the battles for you. It is nothing that you have to earn either. Jesus won it all for you. That is the grace of God on your life. You don’t have to do anything at all to earn the blessing. You just simply believe that Jesus did it all, and then, you have the victory! Duet. 28:1-2 (NIV) 1 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.. This is the Old Covenant. This was the Abrahamic Covenant. No one could ever fully obey all the commands of the Lord, except for JESUS! Jesus could and Jesus did. And now we, as believer in Christ, we can boldly come to God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Heb. 4:16) 13 DAY FOUR Jesus was the perfect lamb that was slain. The blessings come upon us. The blessings overtake us. He poured it out on you. This is our life in the new covenant. Hebrews 6:13-14 (NIV) 13 When God made His promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for Him to swear by, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants. Galatians 3:13-14 (NIV) 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. And there it is: He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham would come to the Gentiles, which is us, through Christ Jesus. So that by FAITH we would receive the promises of the Spirit. By faith, we can have the blessings and the promises of God in our lives. By faith in what? By faith in Jesus. We believe that Jesus died for all the sins of mankind in order that we may live in the grace. 14 15 Let’s Talk Covenant Lesson 2 DAY ONE The silence of the disciples when Jesus introduced it, saying, “This is My blood of the New Covenant, which is poured out for many unto the remission of sins;” and then told them to eat the bread which was His body and to drink the wine which He declared was His blood,--I say, the very silence of the disciples indicated they understood what He meant. From Ruth A. Kenyon, written in her father's book: The Blood Covenant by E.W. Kenyon. Many believe that a blood covenant between God and man began in the Garden of Eden. Revelation 13:8 talks about the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world. Even in the most primitive nations of the world, there is a practice of the blood covenant. This blood covenant is similar to our Lord's Table and discovered in Africa, India, China, Borneo and the Islands of the Seas. No wonder the disciples were silent! They were about to enter into an eternal covenant by the blood of their Savior and Messiah. 16 Covenant was formed for three reasons: A weaker tribe made covenant with a stronger tribe for protection. Jesus' blood and NAME are our protection from satan's schemes. Two men entering into a business arrangement would make a covenant, or contract to protect their own interests. We have a written-down covenant that will never change. A special relationship between two parties such as Jonathan and David, would guard the love and devotion of that relationship. Jesus gave His life for us, we are His Bride. First is the exchange of gifts. This exchange indicates that all that one has the other owns, if necessary. One day I ask the Lord to show me how to walk in the Kingdom and I saw the Kingdom come onto me. He filled me with the entire Kingdom. A covenant is sacred and understood by all who enter into it that it is never to be broken. The covenant that God made with/for Abraham is an eternal covenant that cannot be broken. It was actually ratified by God and Jesus, FOR US. The children of those who formed a covenant also honor and respect it as an everlasting covenant. Let's talk about Stanley and Dr. Livingstone. Stanley worked for a newspaper and was sent to Africa to look for Dr. Livingstone 17 who had not been heard from for some time. While traveling through different regions in Africa, he would encounter friendly and hostile tribes. His guide encouraged him to make covenant with the hostile chieftains in order to provide safe passage through their territories. Stanley resisted but finally realized that he needed the protection they could provide. He and the chieftain agreed to the terms of the covenant and then it came time for the exchange of gifts. The chieftain wanted Stanley's new white goat. Stanley objected. He was in poor health and the goat's milk provided relief from his stomach ailments. The chieftain would accept no other gift and finally Stanley relented. The chieftain gave Stanley his 7 ft. copper-wound spear, which was a disappointment to Stanley. But he found as he traveled through Africa, everybody bowed to him and submitted to his requests. All his needs were met because of that gift. • Jesus made an exchange with us. He took all our weaknesses, sins and their consequences and gave us Eternal Life! Then a cup of wine is brought. A priest makes an incision in the arm of one of the men and the blood drips into the wine. Then the other man's arm is also cut and his blood drips into the same cup. The wine is stirred and the bloods are mixed. Each man drinks of it. They may put their wrists together and mingle their bloods. Now, they are blood brothers. • Jesus took His blood to the Father, applying it to the Mercy Seat where it speaks of our redemption and acceptance into the Family of God. 18 God appeared and made covenant with Abram. Genesis 15:18 (NIV) On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram. 18 Discussion: Had you heard of how a covenant is formed? Sometimes translated as a testament. (“which see” or watch over), and at other times, “covenant.” God is watching over His Word to perform it. Jeremiah 1:12 DISPOSITION: • A particular ordering, arrangement, or distribution. (To bring New Covenant believers into the Abrahamic Covenant. • To control the course of events. (release the victory of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ to believers). • To attend to: deal with (to put the enemy under the feet of believers, their authority). • To finish up with; settle, to transfer to another, as by gift or sale. (transfer to every believer the blessings of this Covenant of Grace—which is health, wealth, joy, peace and highly favored). • To throw away. (every aspect of the Law—no longer applies). 20 God's Covenant with Abram: Genesis 15:8-10 (NIV) But Abram said, “O Sovereign Lord, how can I know that I will gain possession (of this land You said was mine), of it?” 9 So the Lord said to him, “Bring Me a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon.” 10 Abram brought all these to Him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other, the birds, however, he did not cut in half. 8 Genesis 15:12 (NIV) 12 . . .as the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep. . . Genesis 15:17 (NIV) 17 When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces. FIRE POT: a container, usually of earthenware, for carrying fire. Firepots have been used since prehistoric times to transport fire from one place to another, for warmth while on the move, for cooking, in religious ceremonies and asa weapon of war. Wikipedia Jeremiah 23:29( NIV) 29 His Word is like Fire! “Is not My Word like fire?” declares the Lord. Isaiah 30:27 (NIV) 27 His tongue is like a consuming fire. 21 Matthew 3:11 (NIV) A Baptism of Fire 11 . . .after me will come One who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Abram slept through this covenant. But for this covenant Abram was asleep. There was no middleman, no gobetween. God gave it and fulfilled it all by Himself. Galatians 3:20. God made covenant with Jesus. Hebrews 6:13-14 says that God would swear by no one greater, so He swore by Himself, saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.” Discussion: The Greek word for covenant is deatheke, meaning “which see.” Describe how that is a picture for you. __________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ Sometimes God bypasses us to perform His Promises. Can you describe a time when it actually happened in your life? __________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ 22 DAY THREE When Moses brought the Israelites out from Egypt, none of the plagues could deliver them. When the blood was applied, then deliverance came to God's people. Out from under their slavery, they left Egypt with great wealth and there were “no sick among them.” They plundered Egypt and carried off great wealth. In the desert, they wanted to serve God by their own abilities. They wanted God to give them the rules, so they could carry them out on their own. So Moses introduced God's Laws to them. The Law is holy and good but it is impossible for any man to fully keep it. And it comes with a curse. If we break one law, we have broken the entire covenant. Then, instead of being blessed, we find the curse operating in our lives. The Law makes us sin-conscious. And it puts us in prison! If you ever tried to give up an addiction on your own, you know about that prison! I remember telling my husband to hide my cigarettes from me before he left for work. Only a few hours later, I threatened him with mortal danger if he didn't tell me where they were. A friend was telling me her story. She and her husband both decided to quit smoking and one night they threw all their cigarettes away before they went to bed. Waking up at 2:00am, she was out in the garage, rummaging throw the ashtray in the car for a cigarette butt. The Law makes us frantic! Just the word “diet” causes anxiety! 23 Galatians 3:23 (TPT) So until the revelation of faith for salvation was released, the Law was a JAILER, holding us as prisoners under lock and key until the faith which was destined to be revealed, would set us free. . . .and here we are: Grace Covenant people! 23 The New Covenant of Grace is by faith: Believing, receiving and letting it flow through us into every part of our lives. The revelation of faith releases us from our “good works” into the grace life. Jesus is our Alpha, the Author, the Beginner, the Starter of our faith! Galatians 3:22 (TPT) But the Scriptures make it clear that since we were all under the power of sin, (in prison), we needed Jesus! And He is the Savior who brings the Kingdom to those who believe. 22 The Law keeps us in slavery until we are introduced to the Covenant of Grace. We hear the Gospel and determine to do everything it says! • I'm going to walk in love! . . .then someone cuts you off in traffic. • I'm going to live in favor! . . . then someone else gets your promotion. • I'm going to live every day in joy! . . .then the bills come rolling in. • I'm going to live in wealth!. . .God wants me wealthy! But my credit cards control me! • I'm going to live in health! . . .then my aching back keeps talking to me. 24 Discussion: Talk about when you tried to “serve God in your ability.” Was it fun or tiring? __________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ Did you feel appreciated? Put you in prison? Galatians 3:22 says, “we were all under the power of sin” (in prison), before we were introduced to the Covenant of Grace. How long did you last? __________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ 25 DAY FOUR Galatians 3:2-4 (TPT) 2 The Law and our failure to keep it becomes a gateway to lead us to the Messiah. . .so we would be saved by faith. Jesus is our Savior! The Law can no longer hold us prisoners! Grace is our “Get out of jail FREE card.” He makes our days sunny and bright! Early in the morning in Southern California a thick fog rolls in and covers the coastline. But the sun comes up and begins to burn away all the fog. The day becomes sunny and bright. Just like the enemy to come “while we are sleeping,” one Scripture says, and tries to fog-up day. Jesus, the Word of God, is a fire to burn up every plan of the enemy. He makes you and me “Fire-eaters!” We confess His Promises and the fog lifts off our day, burning up every form of opposition . . . just like that picture of Abram shooing the buzzards off the sacrifice of the Covenant. We prophesy the blessings over our day. . .and there is the Holy Spirit, waiting, hovering to empower all that we pray and confess. Heaven comes rolling in instead! 26 His Grace Covenant makes us winners! We are rich with every one of His promises! • I have His love so I can walk in love no matter what the circumstances. His love is supernatural! We can exchange our conditional love for His unconditional, supernatural love. When I ask Him how to love with His love, the Fruit of the Spirit begins to show up. I find I'm patient with people who used to irritate me! Example: The garbage man who sails by my house as I am trying to get my trash can out to the curb in time! • I abound in favor instead of expecting a negative response when I ask for help because He went ahead of me and prepared my way with favor and blessings! Actually, men and women come daily to help me until I have a great army like the army of God. • His joy is a fountain inside of me! I can laugh over my days, even when the sun is not shining! Nehemiah said that joy is our strength. It's energy. Our whole insides are energized with Glee! (I had to use that word—Glee: lively, exuberant joy, abounding in high spirits!) It's like ELF learning that Santas is coming the next day!!!! • He gave us wealth. I'll let His Holy Spirit show me the way to this wealth. We are advertisements for God's goodness! Example: One of the gals who works in Children's Ministry received a promotion and a job assignment at another location. She had a very scary 27 car that wouldn't make it that far and she didn't know how she would get to her new job. A lady watched her in her old rickety car and said to the Lord, “I'm going to give her a car!” And she did! • He took our every sickness, weakness and pain, and put His supernatural healing and health into every cell, bone, tissue of my body. Resurrection life lives in you and me! The Book of Romans tells us that His resurrection power quickens our mortal bodies with God-life! We're talking about speaking God's Word to burn up all the fog over us. Ww shoo the buzzards off our day and off our Promises by speaking what Jesus did for us! Jesus made covenant with His Father and made us benefactors of it! We are heirs of the whole Kingdom! Rich kids! Joshua 23:14B (NIV) You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good Promises the Lord your God gave you has failed! Every Promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed. 14b Galatians 3:29 (TPT) 29 And since you've been united to Jesus, the Messiah, you are now Abraham's child and inherit all the Promises of the Kingdom realm! 28 Discussion: Talk about confessing the Word/promises and imagine the Holy Spirit hovering over your confession and empowering them. Lesson 3 INTRODUCTION Even though we are saved by grace and have a full faith in God our Father. The bible is clear about our need to renew our minds. Daily we chose faith or fear, blessings and cursing, life and death and as Jesus tell us – choose Me. Live in it, stay in it . . . abundant overcoming grace led life! Galatians 4:1-5 (NLT) 1 Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had. 2 They have to obey their guardians until they reach whatever age their father set. 3 And that’s the way it was with us before Christ came. We were like children; we were slaves to the basic spiritual principles of this world. 4 But when the right time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. 5 God sent Him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that He could adopt us as His very own children. 30 DAY ONE Class DISMISSED - Getting Free of Our Pedagogue Just what is a pedagogue - Pedagogue "PED‐uh‐gog," another name for "teacher," but one who is strict, stiff or old-fashioned. See the law was our pedagogue, our teacher and the law taught us that we cannot fulfil it. Galatians 4:6-7 (NLT) 6 And because we are His children, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” 7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are His child, God has made you His heir. Galatians 4:6-7 (TPT) 6 "And so that we would know for sure that we are His true children, God released the Spirit of Sonship into our hearts— moving us to cry out intimately, “My Father! You’re our True Father!” 7 "Now we’re no longer living like slaves under the law, but we enjoy being God’s very own sons and daughters! And because we’re His, we can access everything our Father has—for we are one with Jesus the Anointed One!" See when we choose to accept Jesus into our lives, into our hearts and make Him our Lord and Savior, it is as if we have “put on” Christ (our robe of womanhood), His righteousness, our teacher (the law) has been dismissed. 31 The law now, no longer has authority or dominion over us because we are truly daughters of the Father, with all rights and privileges. The pedagogue is still there, but now only pertaining to those under its jurisdiction. These are those who have not yet come into the saving knowledge of the Father by grace, through faith in Jesus. Romans 8:16 (AMP) 16 The Spirit Himself testifies and confirms together with our spirit [assuring us] that we [believers] are children of God. Romans 8:16 (TPT) 16 For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as He whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child!” 32 DAY TWO Love Lifted Me Romans 8:13b-15 (AMP) 15 But if [you are living] by the [power of the Holy] Spirit you are habitually putting to death the sinful deeds of the body, you will [really] live forever. 14 For all who are allowing themselves to be led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading again to fear [of God’s judgment], but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons [the Spirit producing sonship] by which we [joyfully] cry, “Abba! Father!” Romans 8:15, 17 (TPT) 15 And you did not receive the "spirit of religious duty," leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the "Spirit of Full Acceptance," enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as He rises up within us, our spirits join Him in saying the words of tender affection, "Beloved Father, Abba!" 17 And since we are His true children we qualify to share all His treasures! Indeed, we are heirs of God Himself, and since we are joined to the Anointed One, we inherit all that He is and all that He has. Once you come out of the law you realize it no longer fits, it doesn’t fit your life, it doesn’t fit your future. Jesus wore the garment of sin, sickness, and shame because HE was the only one who could wear it and pay the heavy price for it – once and for all. 33 Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV) 1 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Confession: I am loved! I am valuable to My Father! I am heir of the Father, a co-heir with Jesus. I am free from the law and I will not go back. 34 DAY THREE ONLY OIL & VINEGAR GO WELL TOGETHER – NOT LAW and GRACE Galatians 4:9 (TPT) 9 But now that we truly know Him and understand how deeply we’re love by Him, why would we, even for a moment, consider turning back to those weak and feeble principles of religion, as through we are still subject to them? Don’t go back, not even to visit, not so much as a quick trip. Master Yoda said it best, “Fear is the path to the dark side”. Fear breds mistrust, anger, self-centeredness, offense, bitterness. The law and grace cannot co-exist, it causing us to be double minded (James 1:8) and makes us unstable. The law denies The law says, You Do The law says, Work to be Holy The law condemns The law kills The law brings bondage The law reveals sin The law was written on stone Grace gives Grace says, it’s Done Grace bestows holiness from Christ as a gift Grace redeems Grace gives life Grace brings freedom Grace forgives sin Grace is written on the tablet of your heart 35 Vacillating between both causes us to be sin conscious, critical, judgmental, unloving and makes our love conditional. Everyone in our world, including us – needs grace. Remember: Grace is when you do get what you don’t deserve. Mercy is when you don’t get what you do deserve. 36 DAY FOUR I WEAR HIS NAME Be decisive, declare the following: “I speak my Father’s name is every area of my life. I trust His will, His word, His voice. I plead and apply the blood in every area of my life and I choose to operate in love, by grace.” Ephesians 1:3-6 (TPT) 3 Everything heaven contains has already been lavished upon us as a love gift from our wonderful heavenly Father, the Father of our Lord Jesus—all because He sees us wrapped into Christ. This is why we celebrate Him with all our hearts! 4 And He chose us to be His very own, joining us to Himself even before He laid the foundation of the universe! Because of His great love, He ordained us as one with Christ from the beginning, so that we would be seen as holy in His eyes with an unstained innocence. 5 For it was always in His perfect plan to adopt us as His delightful children, 6 so that His tremendous grace that cascades over us would bring Him glory—for the same love He has for His Beloved One, Jesus, He has for us! The life of the believer should reflect the glory of God as a living testimony to His grace. 37 The names of God are available to us to apply as heirs of His. We say, “Yes” to having a Father in Father God! We take on God’s name and we now have all the blessings that come with that name; we fall under the Abrahamic covenant of being blessed!! And, we don’t have just any old name, but, rather God has made our name GREAT! Genesis 12:2(NIV) 2 I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. Ephesians 3:14-15(NIV) 14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. And, God knew that the enemy would try to keep us from fully embracing our place in the family of God by reminding us of where our flesh came from; who our earthly family was, so He sent us the Holy Spirit as our constant and ever present helper. The Holy Spirit speaks to us and reminds us that, as children of God, we are heirs of God. The Holy Spirit follows after us pointing out our value and just what we have as a daughter of the most High God! 40 Romans 8:16 (TPT) 16 For the Holy Spirit makes God’s Fatherhood real to us as He whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child!” Romans 8:15 (TPT) 15 And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty”, leading you back into the fear of never being food enough. But you have received the “Spirit of Full Acceptance”, enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned for as He rises up within us, our spirits joined Him in saying the worlds of tender affection, “Beloved Father!” Questions 1. One son was born from a free woman, Sarah, and the other was born of the slave woman. These two moms and their sons present an allegory; a picture, for you and I of the Old and New Covenant of God. One comes from a place of promise, freedom and power, while the other is a picture of bondage, rejection and cursed. Ishmael represents a natural birth, while Isaac is a representation of the supernatural birth. One covenant was born on Mt. Sinai ( TPT Galatians 4:24,26), birthing children into slavery and law, while the other covenant, is birthed out of the heavenly Jerusalem above us by the free woman (TPT Galatians 4:26); placing us in supernatural freedom! The law Galatians 4:22 (NIV) 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman (slave to the curse, addictions, sickness, poverty, rejection) and the other by the free woman. (power & ability to set you free) The Old Covenant of law focuses on what WE can do. The New Covenant of freedom and grace focuses on what has ALREADY been done, making what little we can do obsolete and unnecessary! Genesis 21:9 (NIV) 19 But Sarah saw that the son whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham was mocking, (the law will always be puffed up and arrogant) 42 Genesis 21:10 (NIV) 10 and she said to Abraham, “Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son, Isaac.” The Covenant of Law cannot exist amidst the Covenant of Grace for they are opposite. One keeps you enslaved and bound to works, while the other sets you free and calls you valued because of your family name.... the name of God. Galatians 4:29-30 (NIV) 29 At that time the son born according to the flesh (natural realm) persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. 30 But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.” Galatians 4:31 (TPT) 31 It’s ow so obvious! We’re not the children of the slave woman; we’re the supernatural sons of the free woman -- sons of grace! Questions 1. Let’s explore some functions. The Old Covenant focused on the OUTSIDE and had NO power to change you. The New Covenant holds its focus on the INSIDE and has all of heaven’s power to supernaturally set you free. The New Covenant has the power to CHANGE you! One is all about what’s written in stone; the “legalese” rules of living correctly, while the other is all about what’s written on the heart; the place where intention vs accidental is meted out! God looks at the intention and the health of the heart towards others and extends to us His unmerited favor in the midst of the learning curve of consistently walking in love. 2 Corinthians 3:3, 6 (NKJV) 3 Clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart. 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. Give an example of the above example lived out under the New Covenant. __________________________________________________________________ 44 DAY FOUR I love what grace (the New Covenant) means FOR me; what it accomplishes for me.... it calls me loved and accepted even in the moments where I am weak and make mistakes. It doesn’t require me to be a perfect person to be accepted and called highly valued and loved! I love that it offers second chances and for each daughter to work and learn at her own pace, all the while calling each daughter highly capable and full of the Father’s favor and aid! I love that grace already sees us equipped and titled even while we, ourselves, are growing with each day and each new revelation of the Father’s Word. I love that there is nothing I can do or have to do to earn MORE grace because the gift is that we HAVE it already in unlimited quantities! Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. But, most of all, I love what grace means for us TO others! Because of the incredible gift of grace, we have all we need; are completely equipped to extend LOVE on all occasions! God loved us before we ever accepted Him and what He wanted to be for our lives; before we ever stepped up and into who we are in Him. He’s loved us in our moments of kindness to others and in our moments of anger and offense. And, because of that incredible gift of loving us daughters and embracing us, even before we had chosen Him, He placed inside us a desire, hunger and amazing ability to do the same for those in our world who need the same! You are a daughter of the King and His grace IS sufficient for you and ALL you are doing and accomplishing! 45 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV) 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. Boom. You are a force to be reckoned with when partnered up with God and His amazing gift of grace! Think of a time someone extended you grace. Think of that ONE person in your life who needs grace.... Questions 1. Can you do it without being thanked? __________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ 46 47 Now Is The Time Lesson 5 DAY ONE Galatians 5:1 (TPT) 1 Let me be clear, the Anointed One has set us free – not partially, but completely and wonderfully free! We must always cherish this truth and stubbornly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past. (Emphasis added) Now is the time to live a life of grace, to live a life walking in the blessings and promises of God and to get free of addictions, infirmities and weaknesses. To walk free of the bondages of our past and to quit connecting to the failures of our past. I received this word from God as I woke up on May 31, 2013. “I want you to chop sugar out of your diet.” He told me He’d help me overcome this weakness in my life and now was the time! I got so excited that I was going to receive His help! Galatians 5:16 (TPT) 16 As you yield freely and fully to the dynamic life and power of the Holy Spirit, you will abandon the cravings of your self-life. As I yielded to the Holy Spirit, it was one of those experiences that every day that went by I’d look back and say, “Wow! That was so easy!” I noticed I didn’t crave sweets. It was supernatural! It wasn’t anything I could do on my own. It was like the old man in me was dead – which “she” was! 48 2 Corinthians 5:17 (TPT) 17 Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new creation. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new. In the footnote (concerning vanished) in the TPT Bible it says: “This would include our old identity, our life of sin, the power of Satan, the religious works of trying to please God, our old relationship with the world and our old mind-sets. We are not reformed or simply refurbished, we are made completely new by our union with Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.” When we are born again we are completely new, a new creation. I had been on this effortless journey for over a year when one day in September of 2014 I made a bad decision and I felt myself slipping. 49 DAY TWO Galatians 5:17-18 (TPT) 17 For your self-life craves the things that offend the Holy Spirit and hinder Him from living free within you! And the Holy Spirit’s intense cravings hinder your old self-life from dominating you! The Holy Spirit is the only One who defeats the cravings of your natural life. So then, the two incompatible and conflicting forces within you are your self-life of the flesh and the new creation life of the Spirit. 18 But when you are brought into the full freedom of the Spirit of Grace, you will no longer be living under the domination of the law, but soaring above it! Spirit in vs. 18 refers to a current of air, a breeze – to blow. That’s what it felt like to me – that I was soaring above my circumstances. In those moments when I encountered sweets, I actually had the freedom to blow by them without feeling the craving which would ordinarily pop up out of nowhere and have me grabbing all of it! I was still a new creation because I still had Christ. We are enfolded (covered, enveloped, engulfed, surrounded, enclosed) into Christ. Our performance doesn’t determine how God deals with us. He still sees us as fresh and new through Jesus. Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. We receive mercy and grace for our failures and mistakes. 50 Pastor Jason, on the first page of his book, Healing From the Past, says, “God has spent a great deal of time and effort in His Word letting you know that the past should not dictate who you are or what you’re doing in your now.” Through the blood of Jesus He’s dealt with us in love and goodness. We are blameless, clothed with a robe of righteousness. That doesn’t mean we don’t make mistakes in life. I made a mistake and decided to have some candy. Bad decision! I can’t even say that I craved it; it was just there! It was like I’d given myself permission to eat like the old me. What happened? Dr. Maureen explained it this way in her teaching: “God’s given us a free will. In the flesh we choose God but if we have an addiction, our will is not stronger than our emotions. Emotions when connected to addictions demand to be in motion and there’s an appetite that’s there and it’s stronger than the will. The will can say, ‘I’m done with the sugar, done with the alcohol, done with the drugs, etc.’ We can throw all the sweets, drugs, cigarettes, alcohol away and we can say, ‘I’m done with it!’ But when the appetite and the desire start, desire will win over the will.” Until we get into the power of the Holy Spirit, our addictions are controlled by the appetites of the flesh. When we get in the Holy Spirit we’ll get free of those things that held us in captivity. I had taken myself out from under the covering and the power of the Holy Spirit and let my will dictate what I would eat. BUT the Holy Spirit is there to help us when we make bad decisions and mistakes, right? We need to hear and obey the Holy Spirit – to be Spirit led and not emotionally driven. The only thing that can nourish our souls and prevent us from eating our emotions is our relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit and to partnership with their divine nature. 51 DAY THREE Titus 2:11-12 (TPT) 11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age. God has empowered us, given us authority. He supplies the power and we make use of the power. Authority makes us responsible. 1 Corinthians 1:3 (TPT) 3 May joyous grace and endless peace be yours continually from our Father God and from our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One! Grace in this verse includes favor and supernatural potency = force, effectiveness, strength, influence, authority. Grace life is the life of the Holy Spirit. It’s resting in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. Sitting in a church service on January 2, 2005 God spoke these words to me, “I don’t want you to drink another drop of alcohol.” He had just spoken grace to me, now, what was I going to do with it? At that time, I didn’t know a thing about grace, but looking back, that’s exactly what it was! Well, I sat through that service meditating on what He had said and I believed Him. I believed that He didn’t want me to drink anymore so from that moment on I made a quality decision to not drink anymore. It was supernatural! God is a God of the supernatural! When He calls us to do something, He gives us supernatural help to do it! 52 In Kevin Zadai’s book, Heavenly Visitation, he says, “God is helping to create the right environment for you to grow and function correctly in His perfect will for you. However, you have to do your part, too.” I honestly believe that if I hadn’t obeyed Him (obedience was my part) at that moment, I wouldn’t be where I am today. He knew my destiny and He knew what it was going to take for me to fulfill my destiny. Drinking was not part of my destiny. I had to eliminate it from my life and in the process I gradually let go of the relationships tied to drinking. Ephesians 1:19 (TPT) 19 My prayer for you is that every moment you will experience the measureless power of God made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you. Our lives are an advertisement of God’s power working through us. Our lives are the culmination of the decisions we make each and every day. So, do we walk with the Holy Spirit – hearing and obeying Him, knowing He is the only one who defeats our cravings or do we walk by our self-life of the flesh? 53 DAY FOUR Galatians 5:13 (TPT) 13 Beloved ones, God has called us to live a life of freedom in the Holy Spirit. But don’t view this wonderful freedom as an opportunity to set up a base of operations in the natural realm. Freedom means that we become so completely free of selfindulgence that we become servants of one another, expressing love in all we do. Freedom means free from self-indulgence. Self-indulgence is like a strait jacket – we’re wrapped up in self. We’re miserable when we only have ourselves on our minds. That’s how satan wants us. Thinking only of ourselves; therefore, not fulfilling our role in the body of Christ. God is all about loving others. He created us for bigger things. Galatians 5:14 (TPT) 14 For love completes the laws of God. All of the Law can be summarized in one grand statement: “Demonstrate love to your neighbor, even as you care for and love yourself.” Love wraps the Law up in a sweet package of grace! Galatians 5:6b (NIV) 6b The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Galatians 5:6b (TPT) 6b All that matters now is living in the faith that is activated and brought to perfection by love. 54 For love to be active it has to be moving! Faith is activated by God’s love. Do you know what faith does? It goes into the supernatural, fastens onto the promises and brings them into reality. We need to know what had or has happened is irrelevant. What will happen is relevant. If we keep looking at our past failures, it’s like constantly reminding ourselves of things we’ve done and we can’t move forward into what God has for our future or even our right NOW! We need to come under the command of God given to us in His Word which is, what, concerning His promises to us? They are “Yes and Amen!” It is so! So be it! Amen means: certainty, truth and verily. So, with a certainty we can take God at His Word concerning what He has said in His Word – The Bible! Grab onto those blessings! If we can connect to the blessing, then we can be a blessing to others. Galatians 5:22 (TPT) 22 But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its various expressions. This love is revealed through: Joy that overflows, Peace that subdues, Patience that endures, Kindness on display, A life full of virtue, Faith that prevails, 55 Galatians 5:23 (TPT) 23 Gentleness of heart, and Strength of spirit. Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless. I love how the TPT spells these out because they aren’t meant to be abstract but to be visible and active. They are qualities that make us stand out as advertisements to the goodness of God in our lives. How do we bless others if not by His goodness to us, right? Faith is now: Now is the time to hear from God! Now is the time to listen to God! Now is the time to be obedient and do what God is calling you to do! Now is the time to be free and unencumbered! Actively open yourself up to hearing from God. Take time to be quiet before God and hear what He’s saying to you. Put yourself in a position to hear from Him. Where do you hear from Him the best? Do you hear from Him in your quiet place? Do you hear from Him when you’re worshiping Him or hearing a great message at church? Do you hear from Him when you’re at work? OR, do you hear from Him in all these places? Well, you know what? You’re free to hear from Him in all these places because He’s always with you and will never leave you! He is always talking to you. He loves you! I had two very different outcomes when I heard from God: The first one may have been perceived as a failure but I disagree. It taught me that circumstances will come up and I need to be prepared in season and out of season. 56 Satan will come in the guise of whatever our weakness happens to be. For me it was candy and I took the bait but I don’t have to beat myself up. I don’t stand condemned or guilty. Romans 8:1 (TPT) 1 So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One. The second one had a very different outcome because I was obedient to what God called me to do. We have been joined in life-union with Jesus. We have been created a new creation. Now is the time to be all God created you to be. 57 Questions 3.
