Principal’s Message
It has been an exciting past few weeks. Students from divisions 3, 4 & 5 had a wonderful opportunity to visit the Vancouver
Aquarium to discover the wonders of aquatic animals and plants through interactive, hands-on learning. The Vancouver Opera
visited us and performed “Harriet’s Road” in our gym. It was amazing how well music controls emotion in this dramatic work. Our
new Bridgeview Elementary turned 10 on April 22! Happy Birthday!!
Once again our Dance Teams wowed the audience at the District Dance Festival. Thank you to Mrs. Fisher and her daughter,
Danielle, for teaching our dancers. Thank you also to our dancers for working so hard and representing us so well at the festival.
Today will be our Ultimate Playday! Good luck to our students who will be competing in a 32 school tournament.
Next week, we will be hosting our Spring Concert and Talent Show. Our Student Leadership team will be collecting donations at the
door in which all proceeds will be going to “Free the Children”.
As we move further into Spring, we are treated now and again with brilliant sunshine. Of course, we are all too familiar with the
“one day of beautiful spring weather, followed by weather from November”. With that being said, please ensure that your child is
dressed for the weather, particularly as we enter into a time of outdoor field trips. Your help with this is very much appreciated.
As the weather improves, so will the amount of time that people spend “hanging out at the school”. While we encourage students
and families to make use of the grounds during the day, please help us to “Care for this Place”. In addition, we have many students
who love to garden. If you have any plants to donate, please contact me at the office.
Sincerely,
Andrew Shook
Kid’s Corner
“Our class went to the Vancouver Aquarium. We saw lots of sea animals. My favourite
animal was the sea otters because I thought they were cute. I learned how animals use
different ways to stay alive. I learned that a sunstar puts it’s belly out to swallow food.
I thought that was gross! I also saw a dolphin show! I think there names were Hannah
and Halye. I wonder how dolphins can land on their bellies and not get hurt. I wish we could see all of it!
I still had fun. The Vancouver Aquarium was interesting because all the animals have different strategies
for survival.”

School Meal Program
An update from the School Meal Program…
If you have a child on the School Meal Program at Bridgeview Elementary you MUST
sign and return the form that is sent home every month. If we do not receive it there may
not be enough lunches for your child. We unfortunately cannot roll-over students month
to month.
Class Photo Day
On Monday, May 6 is our Class Photo Day! Class photo’s will begin at 9:00am so
please be at school on time. Remember to bring your biggest smile!
Spring Concert & Talent Show
Our Spring Concert is on Thursday, May 9th at 1:00pm. The students have been hard at work preparing for
this exciting event! All family members are encouraged to come and watch. It will be a great afternoon!
Then in the evening, we will be hosting a talent show at 6:00pm. Students in Grades K to 7 are encouraged
to audition for the Talent Show over the next few weeks. The Talent Show has been planned and organized
by our Student Leadership group. The Talent Show will be by donation. All money raised will go to the
“Free the Children” organization.
Track & Field
Calling all athletes!!!
Our district track meet is on Tuesday, May 28 at Bear Creek Park. All students are encouraged
to try out in different events. Running, long jump, high jump, shot put, etc. We will be having
practices at the school but we will be sending out notices to watch for future training
schedules. This is a wonderful event to participate in!
Chocolate Almonds
A big THANK YOU to all families who took extra boxes of chocolate
almonds to sell. We only have 9 boxes left!! All monies raised from
these boxes goes directly to our school which the students will benefit
from. If you would like to sell the last remaining boxes, please drop
by the office anytime.
Bridgeview Gardening Club
We now have all our landscaping done but it would be nice to have a small garden in which the
students can learn how to plant plants and take care of a garden. If you have any non-invasive
flowers/plants you can donate, please see Mr. Shook.
