EXPERIENCE
Forover25years,post-secondaryteachinghasbeenatthecenterofmyprofessionallife.Since
1989, I have taught at the Boston Conservatory, the Schulich School of Music of McGill
University, Université de Montréal and Université de Sherbrooke where I am presently an
associateprofessor.Myworkasaninstructor,assistantandassociateprofessorintheareaof
choralconductinghasallowedmetopursueaparallelcareerincompositionandintheartistic
directionoftheChoeurdechambreduQuébec.In2008,Ibecamethedirectorofthegraduate
choral conducting program at Université de Sherbrooke where I was successful in developing
innovative pedagogic strategies for choral conductors. I’ve also built a dynamic career as a
conductorofchoirsandorchestraswhetheritbemyownensemblesorasaguestconductorof
choirsinCanadaandFrance.Myexperienceathomeandabroadhashelpedmetocarveaplace
for myself as a leader in the choral art. I am an associate composer of the Canadian Music
Centre.

Since 2008, I have developed unique and innovative French-speaking graduate programs in
choralconducting,theonlyonesinNorthAmericaofferedinFrench.34ofourstudentshave
alreadygraduatedfromourprogramandarepursuingcareersinthepublicschoolsystem,in
churchesandconductorsofsomeofthebestamateurchoirsinQuebec.In2013,itsÉcoled’été
de chant choral (Summer Choral School) of which I am the artistic director, won the
institutional award “Grande distinction en enseignement universitaire” (Great Distinction in
University Teaching). In addition, I teach an undergraduate conducting course and act as the
musicaldirectorofchoralensembles.
Myresearchisfocusedforthemostpartonthediscovery,study,performance,analysisandthe
compositionofFrench-languagechoralworks.Tothatend,IfoundedtheChœurdechambredu
Québec,aprofessionalchoirof12to16voicesdedicatedtothecreation,theperformanceand
therecordingofvocalworksprincipallyinFrench.Mycollaborationwiththisensembleallows
me promote my own choral works in North America and France. It also affords me the
opportunitytoworkalongsideotherchoralconductors,composersandchoirsfromFranceand
Canada.TheEuropeanpremierofmycantataPsalm23forchoir,soloistsandstringorchestra
tookplaceinApril2014attheConservatoiresupérieurnationaldeParis.Itcanalsobeheardon
theCDSacredChoruses/Chœurssacrésinterpretedby Inventumensemblewithseveralothers
my sacred choral works. In addition, my setting of Ave Maria was recorded by the Canadian
ChamberChoironitsJunonominatedCDSacredReflectionsofCanada–ACanadianMass.My
choralworksarepublishedbytheCanadianpublisherCypressChoralMusicandDiemPartitions
Musicales in France and are found in amateur and professional choir programs across North
America.
