Pusong Pinoy: Children First
Exhibition
Founded in May 2009, Pusong Pinoy (Heart of a Filipino), is a non-profit
organisation which supports marginalised children in the Philippines and has become a
global family of "Heroes", with over 30,000 books donated to established literacy
programs. This exhibition captures the essence of their work in promoting literacy to
eradicate poverty, where too many children have never seen a book, or have limited access to books.
See http://pusongpinoy.org for more details.

A New Look At The Old Town
Exhibition
In 2003, William Highet produced a series of successful streetscapes of Melrose which
encouraged him to embark on the ambitious project of painting the south side of the
Royal Mile, Edinburgh, in November 2000. The Old Town has always intrigued Highet,
and over the period of time that he worked on the canvases in this exhibition, he
developed a familiarity with the architecture. The series of paintings took more than two years to
complete, and the result is an impressive testament to his architectural expertise and artistic flair. The
work is now part of The City of Edinburgh Council collection and is usually housed at The City Art
Centre. www.highetfineart.co.uk
Sat 21 Jan | 7.30pm (1hr) | £10 | Adults (18+)
Dream or Not?
Storytelling
Presented by Actual Signs, this storytelling theatre performance is a representation,
using a visual language, of sexuality within adult relationships. A fun, flirty and highlycharged play delivered by male and female sign language users who cleverly show
both perspectives of this adult theme. The expression used within the performance
relates to the use and meaning of signed languages and exposes parts of the language usually wellhidden. The performers include a BSL storyteller and a university lecturer, who present three different
short stories in three different settings to illustrate how men and women think when they have one thing
on their minds. For both Deaf and hearing audiences, however, this show will be performed in BSL so
will be most suitable for people with some interest in or knowledge of BSL, including those attending
BSL classes. www.actualsigns.com

Passing Through
Theatre
Passing Through by Alistair Rutherford is set on a wet winter's night. At the Dockers
Social Club there's been a terrible mistake. They booked 'The Ace of Spades' thinking it
was a Motorhead tribute band but they got Tommy the Magician instead. Tommy made
a sharp exit and is nursing a pint and a bruised ego in the pub down the road when Alice stomps in
from the rain. She's soaked, been stood up and that's it, she's had it forever with romance.
What neither of them realise is that some magic might just be around the corner… Or is true love just
another conjuring trick, a sleight of hand? Peapod Productions return to the Storytelling Centre after
this summer's 5* sell-out performance of The Garden. www.peapodproductions.co.uk

Goddess
Theatre
A rippling. There's something bubbling under the surface. Set between two worlds. The
first, an ancient Scottish landscape of female dynasties and river goddesses where the

disconnected urban Scotland with complicated contradictions of female power where three women
negotiate their evolving identities. The earth is trembling with the promise of a new wave.
After the performance you are invited to join the creators of the play in the Café for drinks, socialising

Scots. This beautiful 15th century building, with ornate
carvings and painted ceiling, is now part of the
Storytelling Centre. Allow yourself 30mins to 1hr to visit
the House and exhibition. The upper floors are not
accessible to wheelchair users, but we have an
interactive panel on the ground floor to ensure that
nobody misses out.
