Throughout the month of September, Maxi
Zoo had a fantastic response to our Chip it,
Check it campaign. Hundreds of pets have
updated microchip information, but there
are still many more that have chips with
incorrect data.
Due to popular demand, Maxi Zoo will
continue to check pets chips for FREE in
all stores.
Simply bring your pet in store, where our pet
experts will scan their Microchip and send
their details to Fido to be updated. The Fido
database is the largest in Ireland, and is part
of a European database. There are currently
333,000 units of microchip data in Ireland,
and over 100,000 of this is incorrect.
On average, 19 dogs per week end up in
pounds WITHOUT a registered chip.
By updating your pet’s microchip
information, you can prevent your four
legged friend meeting the same fate.
Dogs Trust at Maxi Zoo
with Dogs Trust raising awareness of their
animals looking for a forever home.
Dogs Trust Ireland visited Maxi Zoo stores in
Leinster with their Mobile Re-homing unit in
September. The visits were a great success,
Dogs Trust is Ireland’s largest dog welfare
charity. It opened its re-homing centre in
Finglas in Dublin, in November 2009 in
order to reduce the high destruction rates
in Ireland’s dog pounds and to offer people
the opportunity to re-home a rescue dog.
All dogs at the centre are vet checked,
neutered and micro chipped before they are
re-homed. Dogs Trust also play an active
role in educating parents and children about
responsible pet ownership as a means of
bringing an end to the destruction of stray
and abandoned dogs.
Family Fun Day!
Saturday, 26th October
The Royal Canin Road Hog event will take
place at Maxi Zoo Leopardstown from
12-6pm. On the day there will be goodie
bags for the first 20 customers, and a
hamper raffle.
