Fifth Grade Writing Prompt:
Writing Situation: Do you take pride in your country/neighborhood? Some people take the land they live on for
granted, but not you! You are a responsible citizen and choose to live responsibily!
Writing Directions: If you would take five minutes a day to do some single thing like pick up aluminum cans and put
litter in its place, our land would benefit. What could you do as a responsible United States citizen and uphold your
responsibility to your country or local neighborhood/environment for those five minutes?
Congratulations to Hannah Zoeller in Mrs. Daugherty’s class! Your writing piece was selected and you will recieve
a $5.00 gift card to McDonalds.
I would go around with a plastic bag and pick up any trash I see in my neighborhood. This would help the
environment because our world will have less trash on the ground and it will make our community look nicer. Did
you know trash can injure animals in our community such as birds and squirrels? Now you know some of the
reasons why cleaning up the environment will help your community.
Congratulations to Charlie Collins in Mr. King’s class! Your writing piece was selected and you will recieve a $5.00
gift card to McDonalds.
I would pick up trash and mow lawns to help with the enivornment. I would also water flowers. I would pick up
aluminum cans and put liter in the recycle bins. This is how I will help with our environment.
