INTENDED USE
HRB — Designed for use indoors where quiet performance is required or the ballast must be mounted
remotely from the luminaire.
HRBW — Designed for remote pole or ground mounting outdoor applications..
CONSTRUCTION
HRB — Ballast is encapsulated in a steel can utilizing Class H (1800) heat dissipating, polyester compound. Ballasts carry a Class B sound rating for 400W, and Class C for 1000W. Capacitor and ignitor (when
required) are mounted separately within the unit. Standard finish is white.
HRBW — Ballast is securely mounted to an aluminum, heat-sink base. An aluminum cover is placed
over ballast assembly and bolted, compressing the weather-tight gasket around the base. An integral 1"
threaded nipple with locknut allows for connection with conduit or the mounting bracket. Standard finish
is black.
ELECTRICAL
Constant wattage autotransformer. Ballasts are precision wound and 100% factory tested. Units that
require an ignitor are shipped standard with longrange ignitors. Max lamp-to-ballast distance is 50ft.
(1000-watt ballasts 75ft.).
INSTALLATION
Type
HRB — Ballasts must be mounted 12" apart. 3/8" slots on backplate allow for mounting to service panel
or wall (see figure below). Three double 7/8" and 1-1/8" knockouts on top of can and two double 7/8"
and 1-1/8" knockouts on each side of the can for wiring access.
HRBW — An integral 1" threaded nipple with locknut allows for the connection with conduit or the
mounting bracket. Two 2-1/2" keyhole slots allow for pole or wall mounting.
