• FIRST OVAL OF 2017: The Desert Diamond West Valley Phoenix Grand Prix is the first of six oval races on the 2017 Verizon
IndyCar Series schedule. In 2016, the five oval races were won by five different drivers, including Scott Dixon’s win at Phoenix.
Who will set the stage for a strong Month of May at Indianapolis with a strong performance in the Valley of the Sun?
• FASTEST CARS IN PHOENIX: In 2016, Helio Castroneves became Phoenix’s “King of Speed” averaging more than 192 mph
around the 1-mile oval to set a new track record. With qualifying happening under the lights on Friday, will Castroneves’ record
fall this year?
• STILL ON TOP: One of the biggest surprises of the 2017 season is Dale Coyne Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais, who has led the
Verizon IndyCar Series championship since the opening race of the season. Bourdais was one of the top drivers at the Prix
View open test in February. Will he be able to maintain his momentum to open the season?
