to the TRANSPORT CONDITIONS for the CARRIERS
The Carrier’s driver agrees with the DHL instructions set in this document
and undertakes to observe them:
•
The mandatory breaks required by law, and any stops and rest, are allowed
only at safe parking lots – i.e. well lit, with guarded entrance, fencing, 24/7
guarding, CCTV camera monitoring.
•
Short breaks up to 45 min. can be made at highway parking lots.
•
During all stops the driver must maintain the following preventive measures:
− The parking place must be well lit.
− Whenever leaving the truck cabin, the driver must lock the truck and the
trailer and secure them against unauthorised entry.
− Always park the truck and trailer among other vehicles – never alone.
− Whenever possible, park the vehicle with the rear /the trailer door facing the
building.
•
The driver must secure the truck and trailer even during very short stops for
refreshment, refuelling or to visit the toilet. When coming back to the vehicle,
the driver must check if the seals, locks, trailer or truck are not damaged.
•
It is forbidden to “give a lift” to the “hitch-hikers”.
•
It is forbidden to open the window or the door to let any strangers in.
When any danger is suspected, the driver must immediately start and
drive away!
•
If the estimated time of arrival to the destination is not during the normal
opening hours, it is advisable to make a safety stop in the border area (the
present or former customs premises), so the driver would not have to park in
front of a closed premises of the recipient.
Any situations endangering the driver or the cargo, which can delay or prevent
delivery of the cargo, must be reported immediately.

Safety Recommendations for the Drivers
These instructions are intended for the drivers to increase their personal safety, safety
of the vehicles and the cargo and to prevent dangerous situations.
Recommendations for the safety of the driver and the vehicle:
1. When anybody, who claims to be a customs officer, policeman or another
official person, asks you to leave the cabin, try to ensure presence of other
people.
2. If you find thieves stealing cargo from your vehicle, do not leave your cabin,
make sure it is locked, start your vehicle, switch on the lights and if necessary,
use the horn to attract their attention. If your vehicle has the “Panic Button”, use
it to call DHL and the local police.
3. Delivery to a changed destination – if the recipient asks you for that, do so only
after your DHL operator verifies and approves that. Even if the new place of
unloading is very close to the original one.
4. Park along with other drivers and vehicles in well lit areas. When parking, follow
the ”train” parking method.
5. Always use secured and safe parking lots and never park at night near the
place of delivery or in an industrial zone.
6. During the loading always check if the loaded cargo complies with the data in
the documents and when un-loading make sure you receive a clear and well
legible POD (Proof of Delivery).
7. Never speak about the nature of your cargo in public and about where you are
taking it.
Recommendations for emergency situations:
1. Always drive with your cabin locked.
2. In case of an accident, do not leave the vehicle, unless the damage or collision
is really a grave one:
a. Assess the whole situation: what is going on, was it really an accident?
b. Use your cell phone to contact the police from your cabin.
3. Inform the persons, who claim to be from police, that you have contacted your
transport operator and that you are willing to accompany them to the nearest
police station. If necessary, show them page 3 of this document: “SECURITY
NOTICE“
4. If someone threatens you with a weapon, avoid any reaction, which could put
you in danger. Act carefully, avoid confrontation words or movements. If you
react unwisely, the conflict may escalate. Your safety is the priority.
5. As soon as it is possible and safe, contact your superior and the DHL transport
operator.
