Dear All,
Bikeability:
Next Wednesday, Ian Jewell will be taking the Year 5s,
for their Level 2 Bikeability course, around the village. If
you see them around, wish them luck - but maybe wait
until they've stopped first! Just in case!
Mothers’ Day and Easter Celebration:
Thank you to everyone who attended our celebration on
Thursday. Class 2 was packed and we were thrilled to
have so many enjoying the children's songs, together
with The Easter Story about Jesus, and what bunnies
have to do with Easter! It was great, with tea and cake
and a really jolly atmosphere. Well done children and
staff for a lovely performance.
OFSTED:
The official OFSTED report is out and you will have
received a copy by now. We were very pleased with the
result - Good - and the inspector, Paul Williams,
particularly enjoyed watching the children demonstrating
their motorised brushes! OFSTEDs are a real team
effort, not only the staff within the school, but staff in
the wider academy. And most important of all, the
children, who really impressed Mr Williams throughout.
Thank you to all too. We are proud to be the school that
we are.
Chulmleigh Incident:
You will all be aware of the very concerning incident that
occurred earlier this week with a young girl on her way
home from school. In school, we have discussed with
the children what to do should a stranger approach, and
also recognise that some strangers are very helpful,
such as the police, paramedics, the Fire Service, nurses,
teachers etc. The children carried out some role play to
demonstrate what they would do if a stranger
approached them and we had a very good discussion on
this important subject. Please be vigilant, but also
remember that incidents of this kind are very rare too.
Thank you for your support.
Farm Visit To See The Lambing:
Next Thursday, the whole school will be off to Sarah and
Andrew Bonner's farm to see the new lambs. We will be
walking to Forches Cross and then over the fields to Ley
Farm, and if the weather is fine, we will have lunch on
the way back. It will be super to see the lambs and we
might even see one born! You never know.
Brush's Latest:
The children are hoping to complete their brush
creatures this week. A preview of their creatures will be
on Facebook very soon. What good fun they have had
and every brush definitely has its own characteristics!

CHANGE OF MENU
There will be a change of menu on the last
day of term - 31st March. The main meal
will be beef/veggie burger in a floured
bap. This will come with beans or salad,
with Easter cupcakes instead of apple
flapjack for pudding - they may not look
like this!
CLASS ONE
As a result of our postponement due to
poor weather, Class One are now looking
forward to our trip to Exmoor Zoo this
Tuesday instead. Perhaps not a bad thing
seeing as we’ve been so busy this week
preparing for Easter and Mother’s
day. With our visit to see the lambs at the
end of next week, our last week of term
looks to be a lot of fun so fingers crossed
for some spring sunshine! The Easter
holidays will bring an end to our ‘Space’
topic which has been super. It is getting a
bit crazy now that the extraterrestrials from our current text ‘Aliens
Love Underpants’ have been visiting the
classroom! They are helping us to learn
about rhyme and adjectives. Well done to
Grant – our star of the week, last week,
for his phonics work and for reading at
home. Also to Izzie this week for her
wonderful singing.
Thank you to Sam Moule, Izzie and Abbie
for bringing in their baby rabbits (does
your child still remember what a baby
rabbit is called?). The children thoroughly
enjoyed meeting and holding them and
hearing about how to look after them –
which tied in very well with our learning
about what all animals need to survive.
FRANCIS AWARD
This week's Francis Award was presented
to Kian for some very good work in his
writing. Kian is working hard at full stops
and doing very well. Well done!
