Message Introduction/ Opening Prayer
Genesis 1:26 – Then God said, Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness let
him have dominion, over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air, over the cattle and
over all the earth.
Three Sections:
 Man (mankind)
 Dominion
 Over all the earth
What does “dominion” mean? We need to know what it means because it’s ours. Ignorance
isn’t an excuse for what you’re accountable for. With dominion comes responsibility and you
can’t plead ignorance.
The Word Dominion in Hebrew (transliteration) “Rada” = to dominate over, to have direct
control.
Story: John gives the car keys to his son for the first time
Story: John’s sees his daughter have a car accident
Further definition: to dominate over, to direct, to subdue, to manage, to govern. An entity, a
people or a government with considerable force or authority.
God gave us control which means: There’s a New Sheriff in Town
The word “authority” is referenced 67 times in the gospels and has 3 distinct descriptions:
1. Jurisdiction (know your territory): all the earth
2. The right to judge: on the earth what’s right and wrong
3. The freedom to take action: if you know it’s the right thing to do, do it
Psalm 8:4-6 What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you visit him?
For you have made him a little lower than the angels, and you have crowned him with glory
and honor. You have made him have dominion over the works of Your hands and you have
put all things under his feet.
Managerial jurisdiction was given to us as a crown of glory and honor and it blessed him to do
so.
God gave us dominion and we “jacked it up”. In doing so, we lost our authority and dominion.
Why did we lose our dominion? Because I’ve never seen a dead man exert authority
There was a man who was born and who never died – he died physically but he did not die
spiritually, which means he has authority.
There’s a New Sherriff in Town!! And it’s Christ Jesus
“And the government shall be on his shoulders…”
When Jesus put on the skin of mankind, he enfolded himself into the dominion and authority
previously given to mankind
The New Sheriff’s authority and dominion is called this: Mercy and Forgiveness
Jesus responds to the woman caught in adultery || Moses old law and Jesus new law: “he
who is without sin, cast the first stone”
Jesus judgment was mercy and forgiveness: “go and sin no more”
The proclamation of Kingdom Values || Luke 2
“peace on earth good will towards men”
Love God, love all
We have received mercy and forgiveness: but we need to give it just as much
Jesus said for you to take his authority: right now! Wherever you go offer kingdom
based values of love, mercy, forgiveness and grace.

Only Jesus can proclaim forgiveness, right?!?
John 20:19 – “as the Father sent me so now I send you…if you forgive the sins of
any, they are forgiven. If you retain the sins of any they’re retained.”
He just gave us authority as his representative on the earth
John’s Conclusions: Love and mercy has been extended to us by Jesus who has the
authority to extend love and mercy. He then says to us “walk in my authority towards
others the way I treated you”
Luke 9:1 – Jesus gave them authority over demons and to preach the kingdom of God
Luke 10:5 – whatever house you enter, first say “peace” to this house.
I give you power to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the powers
of the enemy.
Jesus prayer: “I thank you Father…that you have hidden these things from the wise
and prudent and revealed them to babies.”
To surrender or renounce or relinquish the authority given to you by Jesus is
inexcusable.
Mercy always triumphs over judgment
Signs and wonders will follows those who exhibit love and mercy on the earth
Jesus trusts you with keys to the kingdom…because He’s in you.
