SUMMARY - All living things are made up of cells. Cells are the smallest parts that make up a living thing. Cells are also living things. - Cells can only be seen through a microscope. They have three main parts: the membrane, the nucleus and the cytoplasm. - Unicellular living things are formed by a single cell. Multicellular living things are formed by many cells. - There are different levels of organization: cells, tissues, organs, systems and organisms. - Living things are classified into five kingdoms: the animal kingdom, the plant kingdom, the fungi kingdom, the monera kingdom and the protists kingdom. - Plants are classified into two groups: flowering and non-flowering. Flowering plants have flowers and seeds. Non-flowering plants do not have flowers or seeds. They reproduce with spores. - Non-flowering plants are classified into gymnosperms and angiosperms. - Flowering plants are classified into mosses and ferns. - Plants produce their own food through the process of photosynthesis. They need water, mineral salts, carbon dioxide and sunlight to do this. Plants release oxygen during photosynthesis.
