We the People of the United States F ———— P R ———— L E ———— A E - BOWL - Y D ———— B O ———— O M ———— O ———— K Land of the Free ~ Home of the Brave ~TRAILWORD ~ What began so catastrophically on the morning of September 11th, 2001, propelled a remarkable and serendipitous journey all about US—We the People of the United States. The trip has been tantamount to piecing together an enormous jigsaw puzzle without the benefit of seeing the whole picture from the beginning. Over the passing years, varied elements and diverse components came into view which have seemingly inserted and assembled themselves together with willful determination. The combined effect of the eclectic and evolutionary process is one of dynamic synergy derived through united integration. The whole is much greater, and far more inclusively empowering, than the sum of the great many parts. 9/11, the Attack on Freedom, challenges each one of us to see large, and then larger still, again and again…and yet again. Envisioned is an open space, master planned, mixed use campus park community of eight towering buildings, centered by a multi-purpose indoor/outdoor football stadium, based on President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s timely, and timeless, Four Freedoms in union with American free enterprise. In its entirety, the multi-faceted/multi-dimensional complex would constitute a monumental and strategic global confluence of education, research, commerce, recreation, sports and entertainment. The development of NFB@AAP would most assuredly generate jobs—thousands upon thousands, tens of thousands and eventually hundreds of thousands—from long term construction employment to permanent career path positions. Fully operational with a kaleidoscopic cornucopia of permanent towering tenants and employees, America’s Freedom Bowl Enterprise, a revolutionary stand alone project/phenomenon, would become an enormously energetic economic engine with unlimited power for the entire nation at large because We the People are free. As gravity is a function of mass, then it follows that the greater the mass, the greater, and the more irresistible, will be the force of attraction. It is eagerly anticipated that the massive and majestic Freedom Bowl, America’s National Stadium, will be booked, and packed, year-in, year-out and year-round for athletic events, music concerts and more. All through the post-9/11 era, there has been a constant push from behind and a consistent pull from before. I am confined, constrained and compelled to conclude that it was, and is, from YTP/You the People, because NFB@AAP truly is of the people, by the people and for the people—co-equal collaborators, one-and-all, are We. Freedom Place, USA, surely is trail’s end for America’s Grand Freedom Bowl Expedition. If We the Team build it—NFB@AAP—We the People will come. ~Russ Thorson, USA, 2014 ~ The Revelation of Excellence ~ EXCEPTIONAL REPUBLIC ON THE MOVE ~ The WREATH ~ The FIELD ~ The CROWN ~ The GLORIOUS GREENS ~ The COMMON ~ The ARCS ~ The PALISADE ~ Of GREAT AMERICA ~ The TRAILS ~ The GARDENS ~ The ARBORS ~ EXTRAORDINARY REVOLUTION IN MOTION ~ The Excellence of Resurrection ~ “We stand for freedom. ARMED FORCES ESPLANADE – A wide apron/plaza (not shown) completely surrounding the Bowl and the eight ground level Victory Gates with a run-and-read jogging track around the outer edge featuring George Washington’s (1732-1799) farewell address, which was read aloud in Congress annually into the 1850’s, imbedded in the track’s surface. The inner half of the Esplanade will be arbor and vine covered, with the arbor angled upward to the Freedom Bowl’s Escalade of Excellence. See National Wreath of Remembrance and Hope. Monument Gates: The eight gates shown on the diagram will be free-standing monuments, open 24/7 and never closed for as long as America shall be, for entrance up and onto the Esplanade, which will be raised a full storey, approximately ten feet above Patriots Common, lifted up in cheerful and thankful honor of the uniformed services and all who dress to serve one-and-all-of-US. Gaps between gates will feature appropriate sculptured art in relief on the wall faces of cut stone. By the end of this century these trails could be extended coast-to-coast and border-to-border to form a nationwide network. Trail crossings to be developed as follows: Approaching the crossing, each trail—crossover and elliptical—will rise gracefully in slope to form a spacious plateau above the vehicle intersection. The vehicular roadways will descend gradually to a semi-subterranean intersection. Each plateau, sixteen total, will feature an arbor which will eventually be engulfed with an enormously beautiful array of flowering vines. Each arbor will be designated for a member of a sixteen-team major intercollegiate host conference and designed according to each institution’s directive. Once fully covered, each arbor, an outdoor open air atrium of glory, will be known as The Glorium. ELLIPTICAL ROADWAYS – The four concentric, continuous and unbroken roadways will each have a wide center median greenbelt and trail: 1) United States Victoryway; 2) Grand Union Cavalcade—a cavalcade can be both a parade of people and a series of dramatic events; 3) Great America Dreamway (not shown); and 4) Hub-Of-The-World Greatway (not shown), All America Park’s outer perimeter adjacent to the Four Arcs Of Freedom. ELLIPTICAL TRAILS – The four elliptical roadways will each have a continuous and unbroken trail for walking, jogging, bicycling, and horseback riding through the center median greenbelt: 1) U.S. Victoryway – The Commanders-in-Chief Trail—featuring a sectional garden, with significant facts and information, to honor each American president in order of succession; 2) Grand Union Cavalcade – The United Vanguard Trail, with a sectional garden for each state, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories—featuring flag, seal and facts—laid around in chronological order of admission, establishment or acquisition; 3) Great America Dreamway – Trail of the First Peoples, with a sectional garden for each of the indigenous peoples of the United States, featuring specific information about every native American tribe; and 4) Hub-Of-The-World Greatway, All America Park’s outer perimeter – Trail of the Nations, with a sectional garden for every nation in the world, featuring flag, seal and facts. ESCALADE OF EXCELLENCE – A mid-level concourse and wide exterior balcony, continuous and unbroken, with a run-and-read jogging track and President Dwight Eisenhower’s (1890-1969) farewell address imbedded in the running surface. “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.” – Vince Lombardi (19131970) football coach. EVIDENCE IN PLAIN SIGHT DEMANDS A VERDICT – When 9/11 went down, three words went up everywhere: GOD BLESS AMERICA! What if He is taking US at our word? Here, then, is the question: Could America’s Freedom Bowl Enterprise and His Will be One—in the same sense that was the founding of America, as many of the Founders then believed? His fingerprints appear to be all over it. “This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.” – Psalm 118:23. Chock full of America’s superabundant heritage, We the People are well-equipped to make this adventuresome and challenging journey from start to finish. Good fortune and Godspeed to one-and-all-of-US on our historic and strategic expedition of extreme excellence for freedom to all peoples of the world. —IN GOD WE TRUST— Our National Motto Raised: Twin one hundred foot diameter discs, a super-enlarged replica of the commemorative quarter in bold relief on appropriate metal, one for each side, for the state in which the National Freedom Bowl development is located (see Freedom Place, USA), to be placed prominently in the “I Have A Dream…” Garden, and raised the equivalent of a standard quarter’s thickness above the immediately surrounding ground. FOUR FREEDOMS – On January 6th, 1941, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945), before a joint session of Congress assembled for the State of the Union Address, presented his timely, and timeless, Four Freedoms: Freedom of Speech and Expression, Freedom of Religion, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear. During the delivery of this message, President Roosevelt declared clearly, determinedly and unequivocally… “Freedom means the supremacy of human rights everywhere.” In so purposefully proclaiming with such economy of speech, FDR reached around the world in all directions to all peoples for all time. Even though the servant is gone, the words of the servant continue to serve. This singular sentence may very well be freedom’s seminal statement, and arguably the most significant utterance of universal inclusiveness ever spoken by a sitting American president—immediately and perpetually relevant. These eight immortal words of certitude will appear permanently in the border on both sides of United Heroes Field between the goal lines. See Thirteen and United Heroes Field. FREEDOM CLASSIC – Rotated among the three major service academies on a revolving three year cycle: Army-Navy, Navy-Air Force, Air Force-Army. Each academy team plays two out of every three years in the Freedom Bowl which allows traditional series—Army-Navy at neutral sites and Air Force-Army/Navy home-and-home—two out of three years. Annual winners to receive the prestigious Star-Spangled Shield Freedom Cup trophy. Each winning team will take home a replica of the original which will remain at the National Freedom Bowl and will be large enough to accommodate one hundred inscribed winners. FREEDOM PLACE ~ U!S!A! – The place where the Freedom Bowl rises in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. (If the world were flat, NFB@AAP, Freedom’s Mighty Castle—The House of 150,000 Thrones, would be the center of the Earth, because freedom is humanity’s manifest destiny.) The Freedom Bowl, a.k.a., America House, is destined to become the grand and great Hub-of-the-World. “Freedom lies in being bold.” – Robert Frost (1874-1965) American poet. GAFCi/GREAT AMERICA FREEDOM CORPS, inc. – Not a corporation, but the Corps incorporated, a nationwide corps of freewill investor-patriots. Those who have given the gift of life, their own—with or without uniform—on behalf of others for freedom and democracy, at home and abroad, never cease giving. We who remain, and those who follow, are the most fortunate of beneficiaries, forever endowed. “To whom much is given…much will be required.” – Luke 12:48. We the People of the Corps, being fully persuaded in mind, and in heart, that the down payment has been paid, more than full, with the pure and precious blood of all who have made the ultimate sacrifice, beginning with America’s Revolutionary War and continuing through the Attack on Freedom and beyond, will gladly lay down our lives without reservation—whatever it takes for whatever is required—one day at a time, until we have no more days, for the permanent establishment and the perpetual success of America’s Freedom Bowl Enterprise. This indeed We the People of the United States will most certainly do, for the inestimable honor of, and for the unending homage to our… ~ NATIONAL FREEDOM BOWL FOUNDERS ~ One-And-All Who Never Returned From Freedom’s Fight …and thus will We fulfill with joy and thanksgiving their sacred mission. GRAND CENTRAL FOOTBALL TERMINAL – During World War II, New York’s Grand Central Station handled, at times, over nine hundred train movements—arrivals and departures were counted separately—a day. In time, due to intense nationwide appeal and immense global popularity, the Freedom Bowl could be required to accommodate football regularly on Thursday and Friday night, doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, and frequently on Monday night. The National Freedom Bowl will be America’s Football CAPITOL, and All America Park, the Football CAPITAL of America. In the Freedom Bowl, every game’s a Bowl Game. Each of the Bowl’s eight entrance gates will have a large V-shaped opening, for Victory, in the Wreath directly overhead. The top of each V will be crossed by the Escalade’s façade. NFB@AAP —The CITY at the CENTER of the CITY— “Only he who can see the invisible can do the impossible.” – Frank L. Gaines ~ //~ ~VICTORYLOGUE ~ Never in the history of all the nations of the world has there been such a permanent investiture of immutable authority, neither has there ever been such a perpetual infusion of consummate power in a people never out of office as… We the People of the United States. These seven words of supremacy—the great and grand opening of our United States Constitution—constitute the general statement of our impregnable and indomitable American faith: —WE BELIEVE IN EACH OTHER— The common ground we seek is not to be found under foot, rather overhead. The time has come for us to rise above ourselves. Daniel Webster, American statesman (1782-1852) said, “We are all agents of the same supreme power, the people.” Indeed, We the People are America’s next greatest generation. The Attack on Freedom was, and is, and forever shall be, an absolute outrage. If we try to be reasonable, logical and commonly sensible, we will fail miserably, succeeding only in extending the status quo. “Sooner or later you must move down an unknown road that leads beyond the range of the imagination, and the only certainty is that the trip has to be made.” – Bruce Catton (1899-1978) historian. 3 NFB@AAP: What shall it be, option or obligation? We are free to be as deadly serious about America’s Freedom Bowl Enterprise as Pearl Harbor, 9/11 and other tragic events in our history were deadly. Therefore, it is indelibly, heavily and unavoidably incumbent upon One-and-All-of-US to be… outrageously courageous! “There is a certain enthusiasm in liberty, that makes human nature rise above itself, in acts of bravery and heroism.” – Alexander Hamilton (1755-1804) “One man with courage is a majority.” – Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) Therefore, it follows then that if there were two of us—you and I—we would constitute a super-majority! We labor not for ourselves only, but for all of America’s tomorrows. If this were not impossible, it would not be worth doing. th 13 Year, Post 9/11 – From Here to Eternity…God Bless The USA!
